This is the 3-D cookie I made for the Julia M Usher cookie competition.  It didn’t come out exactly like I had planned but I had a great time making it.  AND, I learned so much.  I interpreted the Pivot theme by showing a peacock who had lost his traditional showy feathers.  What could he use to hold on to his essence and still feel beautiful?  I decided to use autumn leaves.  They are readily available, easy to repurpose and a good reminder of the beauty around us that we sometimes forget to notice.  All of these points are symbolic of how I personally “pivoted” during the pandemic.

The virtual aspect of the competition allowed me to participate.  I am so grateful to Julia, the judges, the sponsors and everyone else who put in so much effort to make it happen.  As I mentioned, I had a wonderful time and learned so much.Peacock BackPeacock Right SidePeacock LeftPeacock Rock close-upPeacock Leaf close-up

Wonderful, Lisa! Thanks so much for sharing not only your photo, but also the thinking behind your entry. I so wish I could share all of the amazing entries, but that's one limitation of a virtual competition. Showing all the work isn't as easy as walking around a competition table. I sure hope you can participate in Round Rock in 2022!

Thank you so much Julia.  And a big thanks for your encouragement to everyone!  I do hope more people share their entries.  Seeing what others come up with is one of the best parts!!

I hope so too!

Oh dear Lisa @LisaF, this is absolutely amazing work. And I love your inspiration as well . I'm SO, SO sorry that I've been totally absent for a few months now. I never imagined that could ever happen. I suppose the good news is that I'm crazy busy. Busier than I've ever been at this time of year. A good thing and a bad thing.

As Julia cautioned me, @Julia M. Usher, taking on too many orders can really compromise creativity. That's exactly what has been happening. I've tried to be more picky about what I will and won't take on. Saying no has never been easy for me!

I've MISSED YOU ALL so very much and look forward to getting back into the swing of things soon. I'm sure you've posted many wonderful creative works of art that I haven't seen. I look forward to going back and viewing the works of art I've missed.

You are a dear, dear cookie friend, an awesome artist and incredibly kind. Wishing you the very best...always! ❤️❤️❤️ Hugs...

Thank you so much Gabi. I had a lot of stumbles along the way but stuck with it. It was still so much fun to make.😘 😘🙏🏻
