Lovely, Ira! I am assuming this cookie was made for the 3-D challenge, or some other one? Per @Sweet Prodigy's challenge rules, can you please comment on why you selected this challenge and what you may have learned from it?  Thank you.

#34 Inside The Box

I made a silhouette cookie for a friend who lost her mother last month and that made me think of my own mom who passed away almost 4 years ago and her love of chocolate. That’s where my inspiration came from for this challenge, made myself a gingerbread cookie-candy box.

1. Top/Lid

I used Silhouette app to turned my mom’s picture into a silhouette and was done by projecting the picture on the cookie and I used medium consistency black icing, wet on dry technique with hand painting grey shading.

The roses are icing transfer and leaves are piped on.

2. Sides

I was curious with this Lambeth Overpiping technique and after doing some research I thought I would give it a try. I used round tip 1 & 2 to create the dimensions on the grey lines for 4 sides and tipless on the corners as you can see in the pictures.

I would sure do more of this technique as I went beyond my comfort zone using piping tips. Lol! But more than that, I have to say I’m in love with Lambeth Overpiping as it’s different and takes a lot of patients in working on it and I absolutely want to do it better.

I used stiff consistency for the greenery and medium consistency for the red and blue flowers.

3. Base

I hand painted the lines that shown in the pictures, I was going to do Overpiping but then I realized that it’s not going to work to do so. And I piped some dots to add a dimension.

4. Inside

I decided to use crackle effect for the inside part, so it doesn’t just look plain when it’s empty and painted the upper sides to compliment the looks.

I used Americolor Bright white, painted over the cookie dough and baked them as usual.

Hi Julia, I’m sorry it took me awhile to post the comment. I was in the middle of writing it when my husband asked for a help, and for some reason I lost my writing when I get back to it so I had to start over.I’m so sorry.

LOL - I see your comments now; thanks for all of the great detail! Seems like this one was a hybrid of a couple of challenges and you worked them together so beautifully!

Thank you so much. I appreciate it. 🥰

This is a fantastic entry! I love how you incorporated elements from other challenges into your chosen challenge. It's great to see that you also experimented with new techniques such Lambeth overpiping. Your efforts have produced beautiful results, and the overall design and the techniques and media that you chose are perfectly suited to your design. This is a very thoughtful entry with a wonderful theme.
