Favorite Cookie Cutter

Lately my fave has been a pretty plaque cutter that was a gift from the fabulous Whisked Away Cookies.

I almost always go for the scalloped square as well.  I do, however, have a love affair with coastal cookie cutters.  I use them all year long! (I live on the Gulf Coast so it is to be expected ;-)

The scalloped square for me too! I think I use this one every time I bake.

Actually, my favorite is a plaque cutter that I designed and had a friend print for me on his food safe 3D printer.  It is the same one that Julia is talking about, which makes me smile.

Julia, I got my favorite scalloped square at Christmas time in a set from World Market. It is plastic, which I don't love, but it also has a rounded corner square on the flip side which I use all the time, too!  My favorite though is the large rectangle plaque from Karen's Cookies!

I have the Ateco set and it is handy to have the smooth side and the scalloped in one set.  I think I got the set of 6 on Amazon a couple of years ago.

I have some Ateco scalloped squares actually, but I don't find them very scallop-y. Maybe I have an old set . . . I really like the Copper Gifts cutter as the scallops are more accentuated.

Ohhhh, now that I see Copper Gifts, I concur!  I like the scalloped plaques I bought from Karen's Cookies and they make really good scallops!

Ok, I'll definitely check out those cutters from Karen's Cookies too.

I love my round scallop. I think I found it at a grocery store! And my plaques get a bunch of use too....

I have the scalloped squares from World Market too and LOVE them!!  My other "can't cookie without" cutters are the rectangle plaques from Karen's cookies.  I honestly could use them for anything!  

 

These are almost exactly like the World Market cutters. And unlike some plastic cutters, they make a very sharp, crisp edge

Ooh, you have me wanting that plastic set!  The scallops do look perfect in a Goldilocks kind of way--not too big, not too small.  I'll have to cross my fingers and hope World Market carries them again this Christmas season.

Yeah, I'm digging that World Market set too. Going on the hunt for it soon . . .

They've had a square set like that at Walmart around Easter. Someone found them on CRU forum & shipped them around to those of us who couldn't find them at local ones.  They were seriously like $1.99-2.99.  

 Since we are on the subject of cookie cutters.

I am going to the States this week and will be going to a Michel's and a Joanne stores. First time. I have a few cookie cutters( mostly Xmas) and want to enhance my collection. What do you all think are the most popular designs and ones that every cookie baker should own? Is there anything else I shouldn't be without?

I'm really unimpressed with the cookie cutter selection at Michaels and Joann Fabrics.  Very limited, and overpriced.  If you can find an independent cake store in the area you'll be visiting, you'll find a MUCH better selection.

I won a 3D plaque cookie cutter from Whisked Away cookies at CookieCon and love it too!  I have Karen's cookies rectangle plaque cutters and use one of these rectangle plaques in almost every platter I do.

Oooo, I'm really loving those plastic squares! I have some that don't have those nice scalloped edges, just faint scallops, from Sur La Table. Looks like I need to check out Amazon on my lunch hour! And I'm extremely curious to see a photo of Tracy's (Whisked Away Cookies) plaque cutter. Anyone want to post it????

I have those plastic squares as well (thanks Mom) and I use them all the time.  They cut nice and clean!  But my most versatile cutter at the moment happens to be the bandage cutter from Coppergifts.com  I have used that cutter for so many designs - it's a great size to hand cut from

I own both the scalloped square and scalloped circle cookie cutter sets from Cost Plus World Market.  I actually like all of my plastic cookie cutters more than my expensive metal or copper ones!  But my favorite cookie cutter is the versatile Wilton ice cream cone cookie cutter!  I love making Sugarbelle's scarecrows,Santa stuck in the chimney,leprechauns and Pilgrims.  I also make an Uncle Sam cookie with it.  It is a great cutter especially for a face with a beard!

Count me in for sets of graduated double sided squares & circles!  That led me to grabbing every graduated cutter shape set that crossed my path.  It is AWESOME to have a range of sizes in the same shapes.  The smaller sizes make wonderful "filler" or "accent" cookies on trays and are hard to find/more expensive if bought individually.  The largest ones make nice focal point/plaque cookies.
