Hi, everyone! Isn't our May art by @CHIKAKO.F (aka Chikako Fujii, aka Atelier Chez Malo) absolutely dreamy?! Originally posted as a Valentine's set, "Antique Heart Cookies" easily doubles as a lovely Mother's Day set with its rubber-stamped message of "thank you". Site Art Stylist @Icingsugarkeks certainly thought so, as you can see in the animated banner (below and at the top of the site) where she added a shout-out to "mom"! Thank you to CHIKAKO.F and Gabi for making our resident moms feel special this month with such a beautiful banner and backdrop!
As you know, I love to feature our monthly site artists in a forum post like this one as well as in a followup in-depth Cookier Close-up interview. I just learned that Chikako is on an extended trip (lucky her!) so it may be a while before we can do the interview. In the meantime, please peruse her bio below, and check out her work in her Cookie Connection portfolio and on Instagram where she has loads of other cookies in her signature oh-so-very charming vintage style!
Chikako Fujii was born in Japan and enjoyed making sweets with her mother from an early age. After marrying her Korean husband, she moved to South Korea and continued to enjoy making sweets as a hobby while raising her daughter. In 2016, Chikako first encountered decorated icing cookies. She found them to be a lot of fun and was immediately hooked. After that, she met Keiko Campbell, the owner of Sugar Sugar in Japan, and her cookie life changed. Keiko brought Julia to Japan to teach classes in 2018, and Chikako studied for two days. Julia showed her a new world. All was so fresh, delicate, and beautiful that Chikako didn't even know she was tired at the end of Julia's course! Since then, Chikako has become obsessed with making icing cookies with her own sensibility and style, and is spending very happy days connecting with various cookie artists. She wants to bring happiness to many people with decorated cookies, and so will be working passionately on icing cookies for the foreseeable future!
Last but not least, for those of you who are wondering how to get featured, it's easy! Simply read these posts here and here. Remember: Site artists not only get their work featured prominently for a full month, but they also get profiled in a forum post and in an in-depth Cookier Close-up interview. All considered, it's a lot of great free PR in exchange for photo sharing! When preparing your site art, please bear in mind that I already have artwork through January 2024, so I am specifically looking for art for February 2024 and beyond. Please also remember that @Icingsugarkeks, our Site Art Stylist, is available to help you get your photos in the right format, so do not hesitate to contact her if you need assistance! You can send her a PM right here on Cookie Connection by clicking on her name (in pink) above.
Thanks in advance for considering a contribution to the site!
