I just noticed that the challenge is already closed! I wrote down the wrong date... My stupidity! But on the 13th The cookie wouldn't have been ready in January anyway.

Bridesmaid
This is my last post for Challenge #55. I wanted another cookie that was at least somewhat similar to Carmen's cookie dolls. I've been wanting to make a doll cookie for sooooo long! However, this cookie cost me a lot of nerves. A lot of things went wrong and I was worried for the last few days that I wouldn't be able to finish it in time!! I made a fatal mistake when dealing with rice paper and fondant. To make the dress fuller, I attached 3 layers of curved rice paper to the lower part (pictures follow under the explanation), which should also represent something like an underskirt. I placed the finished bottom fondant skirt over there. Since I still had problems getting the skirt to fall nicely because it didn't set, I decided to mix the next 3 steps of the skirt CMC into the fondant. That worked wonderfully!! I was happy when I noticed that the bottom part that was lying on the rice paper looked kind of wrinkled. I wanted to see what it was and lifted the dool cookie, but it was stuck and thick sugar water was dripping out!!! OMG!!! What was that?! The entire area where the fondant lay on the rice paper was wet! The rice paper was also soft again! For me there were only two reasons: either the rice paper wasn't fully hardened yet, or, what I suspect, the soft fondant made the rice paper soft again and the fondant slowly dissolved more and more! I didn't have any white fondant left, so I decided to use some leftover black fondant to make a skirt over the bottom part. To stop the dissolving, I sprinkled a thick layer of CMC on the bottom part and then the black part on top. However, the black was difficult to work with because it was already quite solid. The white Flexi ice tip could not be worked in properly and was pressed wide. So it ended up looking very ugly, but at least the fondant had stopped dissolving.

Now about the media I used.
The cookie itself is a solid honey dough.
Rice paper as an underskirt
Gum paste made from fondant and CMC for the skirt and flowers
Fondant for the doll's bow, skin and hair
Flexi Ice lace for the skirt tiers, the bouquet and the hair band
Nonparailles for necklace and ear bead
Sugar pearls for the hair band
Hand-painted details: gloves mouth and eye of the doll

I hope I haven't forgotten anything? All in all, I sat on this cookie for over a week and, due to the fatal mistake, it was the most difficult cookie ever! But I've really learned here and I already know what I'll do differently next time.

Despite all of the hardships you mentioned, she ended up looking quite beautiful! Congrats - your persistence paid off!  P.S. I added her to the challenge clip set (which I close to posts when the challenge closes), so people are sure to see her. She just can't be eligible for any of the prizes because she was late.

Yes Julia, I noticed that I made a mistake in the date! My fault!! It's really not a bad thing if it isn't counted! The whole process for this cookie was a learning experience for me... Thanks for your help!! 😘  @Julia M. Usher

Chapeaux to you my dear friend! You are amazing and so inspiring to me. Your doll is so beautiful, the different dimensions and techniques are gorgeous, and the back of the doll is so accurate. Everything about your work is outstanding. But most of all your perseverance! 👏👏♥️

Oh what a wonderful and beautiful doll dear Gabi @Icingsugarkeks!! The detail...WOW. You did an amazing job. The lace mold you chose to use is one I have as well. It is VERY challenging to work with and you did it perfectly, sweet Gabi! I love the detail on the doll's back where you painted such natural lines and shading that is incredibly realistic.

You are so right about how much we learn when creating such a complex cookie design! Especially, when the materials are not working like they're supposed to work!! Ugh But you stayed with the project! You didn't give up when it might have been so easy to do so. My sweet friend, I admire you so much for the fact that you do NOT give up when things are difficult!!

Thank you for the clear explanation and pictures of the process in creating your gorgeous doll . She is lovely and you are to be congratulated on this beautiful work of art. I love it!!! Sending 1000s of hugs my dear ❤️❤️❤️

Awww... my dear dear Carol, what beautiful and encouraging words from you!! I don't know how to properly thank you for this!?! Oh yes, I learned more from this cookie than ever before!!! I would do a few things differently next time!! But I've also wanted to design a doll for ages. When the fondant dripped, I started to get nervous and thought about what I could do best... Thank you again my dear friend!! Send you big hugs back to you!! ❤️😘❤️  @Cookies Fantastique

Wow. Wow. Wow.  Gorgeous Gabi.  Thank you so much for sharing all of the details and process photos.  Incredible.

Thanks sooo much my dear Buddy friend Lisa!! Glad you like it.  @LisaF

This is spectacular! All the dimension, use of various mediums and how they were applied is perfect.  I love her crown, and the shading of her back is awesome. Where ever did you find this cutter?
You need to keep and frame this piece. Well done you!

Awww... That's so kind of you, Kelly!! I really appreciate your words! Thank you soooo very much dear cookie friend! ❤️😘❤️
I make almost all of my cutters myself, but I cut this one out of the dough. You can see in the photo that the edge is pretty frayed. After baking, I filed it down a bit and the fondant closed the gaps because I covered the fondant all the way to the bottom, not just placed it on the cookie.
Yes, this cookie was quite a challenge for me!
I think the idea of framing is great! Thank you so much.   @Sweet Doughsigns

Wow, wow, wow! I live it! If I wouldn't read your description I would not even guess you struggled making this adorable doll! I love everything oh her, the dress, the roses, her back so feminine and the tiara in her hair. Simply beautiful 😍  you nailed it!

Gabi, this is gorgeous! One would never know you had challenges (pardon the pun). It looks like you created this with relative ease, and that you have been doing designs like this forever.
