Cold Little Heart

This cookie was inspired by a comment my husband made when I finished off the teeny bit of wine that was left in the bottle, which he had apparently planned on drinking himself. When he found the bottle empty, he sighed, “You and your cold little heart.”  We both found this hilarious for a number of reasons. It’s not the type of language my husband normally uses, there were other bottles of wine in the house and my husband is absolutely NOT mistreated.  This has resulted in my husband stalking me with cut out hearts. He cuts them out of the newspaper, junk mail and napkins.  Yesterday, he cut one out of his banana peel.  All of this made me decide to celebrate (and decorate!) my cold little heart.

The cookie is a 6” circle.  I used one of my husband’s cut-out hearts (slightly modified) as a guide for making connection points.

Used a scribe tool to outline the heart then added red dots as connection points.

Then I messed things up.  Rather than piping in thoughtful, intentional lines that follow a pattern, as Christine has showed us repeatedly, I went wild.  There was no rhyme or reason just a bunch, of willy nilly lines.  Fortunately, I quickly realized the error of my ways.  I am attaching a photo as a cautionary tale of what NOT to do.

I was able to scrape off the lines and pipe again in the direction of the actual pattern.  I didn’t take photos but I basically alternated direction with each layer. I used a 1 PME tip for the bottom layers and then switched to a 0 PME for the rest.  I did have line breakage but most were easy to fix.    I lost count of how many layers there are in total but the stack of lines is slightly taller than a half inch.   

I'm pleased with how it worked out.  Seems like my cold little heart isn't such a bad thing after all though my husband has become very protective of open wine bottles.
