Challenge 19 - I have molded and imprinted a decent number of cookies (thanks to inspiration from Julia) but all have been related to gingerbread projects.  In most of those cases, I have either left the molded cookies bare or sprayed with some sort of luster.  This was my first time experimenting with actually coloring dough prior to baking.  I was surprised at how much the color held up!  I had some color spread in the flowers where I used two colors.  I tried to even out the spread with edible paint.

I tried sponging on of the green branches with a lighter shade (I do not like the result).  I used luster dust on most of the cookies though it is most visible on the cookies which were not colored ahead of time.  I was a too heavy handed with the blue on the hydrangeas.  I used a colored powder and holy smokes did that powder adhere!

I decided to package them like the last-minute flowers by the cash registers.  In those bundles (just like the cookies) – some blooms are hits and others are misses!

Here is a photo of the molds that I used.  The smallest blue one had an unfortunate interaction with the garbage disposal.

Thanks for all of the information about the process. I think we all learned from your experimentation. The variations in color - along with the different coloring techniques  really adds to the beauty of the overall presentation. The finished product looks great.

Thank you Christine. I was quite surprised by a number of things. The way the colors held up surprised me the most. I was also surprised by the spread of the centers. I thought I had carefully placed just enough dough. I wish I had taken a photo before the touch-up. The spread was so random. The colors stayed separate which made it incredibly obvious! I amused myself a few times when I tried something and immediately thought, “we’ll this wasn’t a good idea!” 🤣 I guess that’s part of the « challenge « !

I thought of you when I was making these Gabi.  You do so many beautiful molded cookies.  They are very inspirational.  I tapped into my inner Gabi!
