Happy Birthday, Zara!!! As usual, you like colorful cookies, I made this set with some colors. Year of 2020 is very tough, but I hope you are having fun birthday with your family and friends.
Practice Bakes Perfect Challenge #42 is closed but it is not over for me. I got many tips from wonderful cookiers after I had difficulties with gelatin and isomalt. I really should try gelatin and isomalt!
These are the cookies I prepared.
The logs were decorated with icing and palette knife like Samantha did for her latest tutorial, polyptych
Gelatin
1. I poured gelatin liquid on acetate like Samantha of @Aproned Artist does for Every Little Detail with Aproned Artist: Autumn Suncatcher
While it is drying, somehow it started curling. Probably because my tape was not strong enough to hold the acetate.
So, I poured gelatin liquid on silicon mat directly like following. But it also started curling while it is drying. (My gelatin really wants to curl)
2 of left-side were on acetate, 2 of right-side were on silicon mat
Finally, I poured gelatin liquid on glass board. It doesn’t have wrinkles but not really flat like Samantha’s. I still wonder why….
The photo is dried gelatin after it was peeled from glass board.
The gelatin on acetate is shiny on both side after it was peeled. But the ones on silicon mat and glass board have shiny only one side. By the way it was very difficult to peel the dried gelatin from glass board.
Isomalt
I added too much water (mistake) but I didn’t notice. 😱 It is like corn syrup. Isomalt was pored on 2 white ghosts.
Gelatin and isomalt are still hard to handle, only whys are left....
OMG Thank you so much Ryoko. 💓 It is an amazing and cute set. You put so much effort and the result is stunning. I love the transparency of the banner. Really smart. And of course I love the colours and I love pom poms very much. I don't think I mentioned that before so it is a nice coincidence. Thank you for your lovely gift ❤️😘

I am glad to know that you like this set. This year I wanted to make cauldron, and your name and candy are popping out from it😊 I should have cut out Z A R A separately so they looked like coming out from cauldron but when I cut out your name, it looked cute 😄 Happy birthday, again.
Amazing, Ryoko! I love how the fire turned out. I’m not sure why my gelatin didn’t curl like that. You could try weighting the corners of the acetate with something heavy; maybe that would be enough to prevent the curling.

Probably.... my acetate is too thin my gelatin was too thin or.... I don't know... humidity in my room??
But next time I am going to put something heavy on the corners of acetate! Thank you, Samantha💗

Hi Kanchana, having fun Halloween with your family?? It is getting fun to make something transparent 🧡
Hi Ryoko, for some reason my little one love Halloween stuff. I do pumpkin carvings, spiders etc. 🕷🎃 mostly because of him. It's not much celebrated here in Maldives. But it's so much fun I guess. 😊
And I like your gelatin and isomalt experiments. Thank you for sharing all the results with us, those gone be really helpful. 🧡
