Sunflowers again like in last year challenge because they are my favourite flowers, and July is my month. Colors are my nemesis... that said I hope my NON-ENTRY fits the challenge requirements. The theme of the project is Summer and I picked warm colors.
Yellow. I used egg yellow for the petals, but petals are the last thing I piped in this set of cookies. I started by preparing stiff yellow royal icing looking for the tone I liked. I saved a part of it and used the rest to make the green and then the brown. Green. This is a tough color, and it has been challenging to take a good picture to show the real color as it is seen in person. I added some drops of forest green to the "egg yellow" royal icing to get a yellowish green, until I got a tone very close to the green color spot in the table above. I added just a touch of black to make it a little bit darker but I forgot that the color develops. I should have waited because eventually the color did developed and once the leaves/stems were dry they looked even darker than I wanted. Brown. I added red to the green royal icing leftovers to get a chocolate brown to decorate the center of the flowers.
Well Manu, you certainly conquered the colors. Thanks for explaining your process. It's very helpful. As always, your work is oustanding. The sunflower's and July 'fence' are fabulous. Pip
Another awesome set of font cookies. I just can't get enough of them. Everytime I see one of your beautiful sets, I earnestly consider emptying my fridge of food so I have room to chill the rolled out cookie dough

Thank you, Leoni. You don't need that much space though!
Manu, I always love the detailed descriptions you provide with each and every cookie set! You have done such a beautiful job in designing and then decorating these amazingly beautiful sunflowers with your trademark font for "July". I love the presentation of your cookies and how well you have decorated the leaves to get the correct angle of how they would look in real life . Beautiful work, as always ♥♥
Lovely set, Manu! I think that green came out really nice !
Thank you, Sonja. The pics are the hardest part in cookie decorating! I never use filters but the light (I always use natural light) could be a friend or an enemy and it is hard to catch the real colors.

Thank you, Carol, I like to talk about cookies and techniques, especially during the challenges, and I am glad you loved to read about that. Thank you so much, you have always had beautiful words for my work since my very first post.

I agree with your pic statement, but you are such a great photographer, Manu! Your pics always look clear and beautiful ❤️.

Oh yes, I do indeed love to hear about inspiration, techniques and challenges during the decorating process, etc. I always read every word you say and love hearing about your cookie journey .
To me, it seems that everyone should be recognized in some way for the hard work they've invested in their art. And I think it's particularly uplifting to acknowledge someone's improvements along their cookie decorating journey. (Can you tell that I like to "talk" about cookies, too? LOL)
