This week’s delivery was a simple design but not without a heavy dose of drama. For starters, I once again had to scramble and this time I couldn’t even blame Christine @Sweet Prodigy for distracting me!! 😂 Instead it was the hurricane that came barreling up the coast. Thankfully, we didn’t sustain any damage except for some downed branches but we lost power three times! Each time it came back on, I was hesitant to start baking because I was afraid it would go off again mid-bake. As a result, it took much longer than expected to bake the cookies.
Of course, we have all seen hot dog cookies and, in this case, the cookie cutter does most of the work. Someone at the community center had seen a hot dog cookie and asked if I could make one. I’ll admit, it isn’t my favorite design but I had the cookie cutter and decided to give the people what they want. It also gave me an opportunity to play around with the airbrush and try a bit of contouring. The thing is though, people are very particular about what they put on their hot dogs! Having gone to grad school in Chicago and lived in NYC for quite some time, I know that opinions are strong. So rather than perpetuating discord over condiments, I decided to keep it simple with just mustard. However, I decided it needed a pop of color so, I threw caution to the wind and added relish. Why should hamburgers get all the bling?
Oh what great summer fun Lisa @LisaF!! The hot dogs are so realistic. I love your explanation about the generation of the cookies . So true, isn't it, how others can sometimes determine your decorating path? These turned out great and I love how well you worked with the airbrush! It can be tricky to really get the hang of it...I have so much to learn about airbrushing. There's a world of ways in which to apply color via airbrushing. 150 of these, eh? That's a LOT of hot dogs!
I've never been in a situation when I was baking and the power went out. Oh NO!! Well, you definitely made lemonade out of your lemon of a situation my dear cookie friend ❤️❤️
Lisa, these hot dogs 🌭 are so gorgeous!!! Nailed it once again, dear friend!👏👏👏
I’m sorry about the hurricane though very grateful you didn’t have any mayor damages. How scary! I’ve never lived one, but it’s definitely not on my bucket list!

As always, thank you for your kindness Carol @Cookies Fantastique. We're a bit remote and on the water so power outages do happen during storms. Usually it's brief but you never know. I try and plan for the possibility but it's kind of tough to do while still remaining productive! Once we had several outages right in a row. I was baking, or trying to. It was all kind of distracting. Long and short is that I ended up with cookies as hard as hockey pucks!😂

Thank you dear Heather @Heather Bruce Sosa. Some of the storms can be scary and others are kind of cool to watch (we have a lot of windows). I find it magical but my husband is more of a worrier. So is one of the dogs. We have two dogs that over 100 pounds and one is terrified of storms. He either crawls in my lap or wraps himself around my head if I am sleeping and shakes until sufficiently comforted. At 104 pounds, that's a whole lot of shaken going on! Not the best time to bake. 😂😂

Well, looking at the positive side, you get free massage on your neck, though I really think you are strengthening your neck/shoulder muscles!!! Im grateful you are all safe, doggies included!♥️
Glad to see that everything worked out okay (If it's not the challenge host, it's the weather ). Your hot dogs look really good with the airbrushing and your choice of condiments. Please tell me no one said, "I'm not eating that, there's mustard on it." 😂
