Growing up in Southern California close to the beach is such a wonderful memory. Every summer was a time for walking next to the waves as they came up to the sand. I loved the feeling of wet sand inbetween my toes and then the water washing my feet clean once again. I did what most teenaged girls did...laid out on the beach in my bathing suit and got a bad sunburn. Not being more careful with sunscreen under the sun's rays on my skin wasn't the smartest choice. But what fun!!
In retrospect, I would change the cookie with the mermaid tail coming out of the waves so that the design made more sense. I was going for whimsical and ended up with a "mismash".
I loved Julia's stencil that she used to make the most wonderful cookie design entitled "Underwater Ephemera Collage Cookie" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KP06RW_UQcM. It's a combination of steam punk with a wonderful mermaid underwater @Julia M. Usher . This has to be one of my favorite cookies in her vast collection of masterpieces. One of the things I love about this stencil (and all her stencils for that matter) is the intricacy of the design that gives us cookiers the opportunity to improve our airbrushing skills.
This was such a fun set of cookies that took me back to some very special memories ❤️❤️❤️ Lots of hugs to all of you, my amazing cookier friends here on CC!!
This is so beautiful Carol @Cookies Fantastique. I love the stencilling and all the fondant and other decorative touches you added. Love the colors too. Being from an island myself I can truly understand your love for the beaches.
Me, too! I miss the ocean. Lots of people want to go to beach, feel the sand and the sun, watch the waves of ocean, sunset.... then beaches are going to be crowded and again we are told not to go.... When we were free to go to the ocean, I prefer to stay home since the sands stick here and there, sweaty, too hot... but now I miss them all.
At least I can see your pretty ocean cookies, Carol. Each one of them is well designed and full of wonderful techniques, I love that little blue waves especially.
Caro, oh my dear Carol... your magical cookies literally call for summer and the sea !!! They are a feast for the eyes and certainly also for the palate ...? !! Each of your 3 cookies is a masterpiece in its own way !! The combination of the many matching details rounds off the whole thing so summery. Very, very fantastic, my dear friend Carol !! ❤️@Cookies Fantastique

Oh how sweet of you my dear friend Ryoko @Ryoko ~Cookie Ave.!! YES! The sunset on the ocean is amazing...I could gaze and gaze at all the beautiful changes in color as the sun sets in the distance over the water. The only bad part of going to the beach is that your clothes and skin are just covered with tiny particles of sand even after washing and washing. HaHa! Thank you for taking the time to write a comment to me. It means so very much my dear friend ❤️❤️❤️ Hugs...

Dearest Gabi @Icingsugarkeks, I can't thank you enough for your kind words to me!! You are always so uplifting and thoughtful in what you write. Yes, I do miss the ocean...more than I ever thought possible. It was just a short drive from home when I was a teenager and I couldn't wait to get my driver's license so that I could make the trip with my girlfriends. LOL. Thank you once again for your many kindnesses my dear friend ❤️❤️❤️ Lots and Lots of Hugs...

Thank you so much for your lovely comment dear Julia @Julia M. Usher!! I do indeed enjoy using your stencils as you already know . The wafer paper for the coral on the right side of that cookie was just the look I wanted. I was able to extend it off the cookie a bit to give some additional dimension. With all the amazing detail in this stencil you can easily achieve the appearance of a LOT of dimension simply by using the airbrush.. I loved being able to add the fondant transfers of curling "grass" coming from the ocean "floor". Thank you for creating such fun and wonderfully challenging stencils. To improve my airbrushing skills, I just love "playing" with your stencils on paper to try different colors and place each color exactly where I want it to go. I've spent many a hour doing just that!! ❤️❤️❤️ Hugs...
