I was very excited but this challenge! I've often struggled with the themes or timing of these challenges, so being able to pick which one I want to enter was very exciting.

I picked Challenge #45 and chose an unusual interpretation of the theme. I chose a modern day interpretation of Mother and Child which represents my favorite holiday, Christmas. I've seen thousands of Christmas cards, Nativity Scenes and Madonna with Child depicted in many different cultures.  Unfortunately, none that represent my multicultural German- American heritage, so I decided to make a cookie which represents just that. Baking Christmas cookies with my German mother is how I started baking, and I haven't stopped since!

The sentiment behind this cookie is as equally beautiful as the cookie itself. The amount of care that went into creating the detailed work really shows. Your piping and decorating work is beautiful but it's the stunning painted image that stands out. If you have any tips to share, I'm sure I, and others, would love to learn.
