This is my entry for the Practice Bakes Perfect Challenge #28 Tutorials. I used Pamoda Vanderwert's "Get Inspired with Sugar Pearls: Daisy Canvas Cookie" tutorial. (Sorry I tried to tag Pamoda's name but I couldn't. If you know her member displayed name, please let me know).

Here is the link for the tutorial: http://cookieconnection.juliau...-daisy-canvas-cookie

The tutorial was mainly about creating a mixed media background by using different techniques such as water colouring, water colour alcohol texturing, stamping and using edible paper.

I didn't have the same stamps that Pamoda used in her tutorial. I checked the local craft shops but couldn't find any of them. So I decided to go whatever I have in my hand. I was lucky to have a dotty themed stamp set (see Picture #1). I thought this set will match with her design as she liked to use many circles on the background.

One of the techniques she used in her tutorial required dripping alcohol on the wet paint. I didn't get the same effect as Pamoda got. I reckon this is due to not having quite wet paint. I didn't want to spoil the icing and didn't wet it too much (see Picture #2).

I used one of the mini stamps in the set to stamp the petals of the daisy. Although I applied water to the back of the petals, I was unable to give some movement to the petals. They all dried flat. Any advice on this please?

I used a plaque shaped cookie whereas she used a rectangle one.

My daisy canvas cookie doesn't look exactly same as hers but definitely resembles it and it includes all the techniques she used creating her cookie.

Thank you ever so much Pamoda for this lovely tutorial. I learnt a lot and enjoyed a lot.

P.S. Well, what happened to my cookie at the end? (see Picture #3) It's broken I still managed to take its picture.brokencookie

Looks great! I love it!

I also like this tutorial and I even ordered some stamps because of it three weeks ago from aliexpress.

Thank you @Dragana. I would love to have a love letter stamp. I’ll check aliexpress too.

This challenge is such a hoot!  It's like "Name That Tune," but with cookies!  I saw this, and instantly said, "Sugar Pearls!"  I love her style, and I love that you chose one of her tutorials.  You really captured the essence of Pamoda's work, while at the same time, making this project your own.  Thank you for the wonderfully-detailed description of your process.  It's always fun to take a peek into another cookie artist's head!  Well done!

Awesome job on Pamoda's tutorial! I LOVE it! (P.S. Pamoda's screen name was Sugar Pearls Cakes & Bakes, but she recently left the site, because I don't think she's actively decorating cookies any more - which is too bad! This is why she can no longer be tagged.)

How beautiful, Ferda @La Shay by Ferda Ozcan! One of my favorite tutorial from Pamoda @Sugar Pearls Cakes & Bakes. Thanks for the detailed step by step, and the different stamps give your signature to this cookie.

Did you try steam to bend the petals?

Thank you Christine @Bakerloo Station. Daisy canvas was Pamoda’s last tutotial, shame she doesn’t contribute any more. I love her style too.

Thanks a lot dear Manu @Manu biscotti decorati. I didn’t steam the petals as the instructions in the tutorial asked to wet the back of the petals. But I’ll try to steam it when I use edible paper next time.

Even though it is broken it is a great entry for the challenge! Was thinking about doing this one as well, because it's so colorful and charming.

I think you did a great job and it's nice if they are not a 100% perfect copy. ♥

For working with wafer paper I always use a damp (sometimes even wet) brush. But steam should work better, from what I have heard.

Thanks a lot @Former Member 😊💐. I actually used wet brush but it didn’t work. I must have done something wrong. I’ll try steaming, next time I use edible paper. Thanks for the advice!

Hi, @La Shay by Ferda Ozcan! I just wanted you to know that I shared a link to your work with Pamoda earlier today, and told her how much we missed her. This is what she said:

I like the different twists you put in. The shape of the cookie and different stamps. I also loved this tutorial by Pamoda. You did a great job.

Thanks a lot Kyra, the twists came out of necessities but turned out great at the end!
