Night and Day!

I had the pleasure of working with @Kim Damon on this fun collaboration. After brainstorming over email for a few days, Kim had the great idea of doing this moon/sun theme. Kim made the stars and moon (with beautiful shading work on the face) and I made the sun and flames. We really do complete each other's cookie set! I like the contrasting styles (they are like night and day) and how they come together in the scene.

Even though there are 4,700km between us, we took the opportunity to taste each other's creations. Kim sent her set to me so that I could photograph the complete collaboration and I will send my cookies to her this week. Thank you for such a fun collaboration @Kim Damon and the very yummy cookies!!

I absolutely LOVE this take on the "You Complete Me" theme!  I would love to know more details about how this idea came about and then who made the actual sketch.  Also, were both sets of cookies mad based on the sketch only, or did you make yours after receiving Kim's?  Finally, I really love how you painted these cookies.  All of the red and orange tones are just gorgeous.  Well done, you guys!

Thank you so much @Bakerloo Station! Kim came up with the idea and she drew some sketches of what she had in mind. She was going to email me an outline of the moon after she made it but we decided to mail the cookies. I didn't cut any cookie dough until I received Kim's set. It was a little tricky to work around someone else's cookies but I enjoyed the challenge. I had to do some paring to make the cookies fit just right but not too much!

Laura, I didn't say it in my comments, but bravo on the photography! I love the tricky way you put the cookies together and added just the right light and shadow to each side, all together, you made this so special!! 

Beautiful, beautiful cookies! It is amazing the way they look one thing and one style. So nice that you could take a picture of both of them together. They are truly special!

......　I am looking for the right word .....  now I know the word, "what????"  The actual cookies were sent and to be sent and Kim and Laura could taste other's cookies?  !   Isn't this great?   Not only the process but of course I love your work, the lighting is wonderful and when the sun and the moon are together, they look like only one person made them.   Congrats to your work!
