Fall Winds Blowing

I joined forces with @Kim Damon on this collaboration because we have decorated cookies together before, and since we only live a block apart, it was the perfect opportunity to sit down together and do it again!  We started our design process on Pinterest.  We went back and forth on themes for a while, and settled on Umbrellas and Rain/Clouds as our pair of things that went together.  Kim pinned a bunch of cool images, and I pitched in too! The next step was baking, which I did.  I had an umbrella cutter, but I also handcut some larger ones, and used a circle cutter to make the umbrellas viewed from above and below.  I flooded them as well to keep them fresh, and because I knew that it would be more fun to paint and color on them together than to just be piping them together, which would take longer too!  We carved out a night to sit down together. Kim brought fondant and I had my paints and markers.  When we sat down, we had no other plan.  I had a thought that we could be doing a play of patterns and colors, and Kim had a color inspiration picture of a Fall wreath with great black and white polka dots, and bright green accents.  We just each grabbed a cookie and started decorating.  I saw where she was going on hers, and adjusted some of my colors to match.  We just did that from cookie to cookie until we had the whole set done.  It worked out pretty evenly, and I think each half is pretty great on it's own!  Photographing was easy because we were already all in one place!

How nice being cookiers and neighbors. I loved the image of you and Kim decorating together in the same kitchen and seeing where that leaded to, cookie after cookie. Each set is very nice and the two together blend so well. I love the shape of the opened umbrellas and the idea of taking a drop from the cloud.

You GUYS!!!!  I love the story of your collaboration, and I would give my left arm (I need my right one for piping) to be sitting in your kitchen with you and Kim watching the gears in your creative brains turn.  I really love the design of the underside of the green umbrellas and the pattern of that black and white rain drop.  The two sets of cookies fit seamlessly.  FABULOUS.

How fun to play off each other right then and there. A very different process than most get to experience.

I agree. What a fun experience!
