I've been asked why I spend the time decorating cookies when they are gone in moments once presented. Personally, I love the creativity of it while not having to live with my mistakes for all eternity. :-/ Why do you decorate cookies?

Hi, nylorij, Congrats on making your first post. I look forward to many more to come!
I ask myself that every time I decorate cookies. I'm so hard on myself I should quit. I love the look of decorated cookies and how happy it makes others when I give the cookies away.
Good question. I enjoy the creative expression, and teaching people about the techniques I use and projects I create. The latter part is especially gratifying. But the pressure of having to produce regularly for videos wears me out.
I just have to respond. To Econlady and Julie Usher. Please ladies don't ever quit making your beautiful and gorgeous cookies. It's a shame you can't see. The smiles the OMG. The WOW. Expression on all of our faces when we first experience the amazing beauty of your cookie art. Remember we love you all and appreciate everything you have done just for us

Thank you for the kind words. I've been struggling with my cookies for cookiecon and could use the positive words. I'm waiting until I get back from cookiecon to post pictures of the cookies I made for the sugar show.

Thanks! I am in the final stages of prepping for a shoot in two weeks, so I may be unusually burned out right now. I hope the feeling is fleeting!
Why do you (that's an "everyone" you, not to anyone specifically) use this medium instead of a more permanent one?
I have found cookie decorating a great challenge, I have had a very difficult year and half and was advised by my doctor to find something that challenges my mind, this has been great therapy for me, and very enjoyable. I was a decorative artist for my years and am hoping to be able to use some of those skills, however the medium is very different. Any sort of art, even edible is great for the soul.
I want to weigh in on this particular subject as oftentimes I've noticed how people ooh and ahhh over a set and swear that they couldn't possibly eat an intricately decorated cookie. But without fail after that first bite, the cookie is gone in mere seconds followed by a bunch of oh yummmmms. These are the parts of decorating cookies that I enjoy the most!!!
I go through many, many slumps (these times typically raise their ugly heads when my physical challenges make it so difficult and uncomfortable for me to decorate). I really appreciate each and every cookie posted here!!! The amazing creative talent here never fails to blow me away! But I'm also inspired to keep at it and not give up (at times that's exactly what I feel like doing).
If someone gets pleasure out of the work we do then it's worth the many hours to see those big, beautiful smiles .
