Again, my apologies for the delay in this week's Saturday Spotlight. A zany cookie-filled weekend prevented me from getting to my computer at the usual posting time. (If I remember correctly, fellow Cookie Connection members Charlene Smith and Penny Knapik and I were risking life and limb on Saturday, stringing over-sized cookie bunting eight feet in the air while simultaneously teetering on folding chairs. Thanks for going the extra mile with me, ladies!)
But enough of my excuses! You deserve an extra special announcement this week for your incredible patience. So instead of honoring the best of the week, we'll be honoring the best of September. And, better yet, honorees will get a brand new "Best of the Month" badge designed by the one and only Pretty Sweet Designs. Pretty slick, eh? (And I'm not just talking about the badge design; I'm talking about my sleight of hand . . . who can say I'm late with a "Best of the Month" post when it just turned October 1, right?

* As a reminder, a word about how the rankings are determined: The rankings are not at all subjective. In fact, they are determined essentially by you, our members, and the activity (number of views, likes, and comments) you've bestowed on each photo. The site uses a top-secret algorithm that weighs these various factors to determine which photos are trending most quickly (i.e., are the "hottest") over specified periods of time. As such, the hot list at the time of this announcement may look a little different a few hours or a day from now as more photos are added to the site.
So that no one has an unfair advantage in making it onto a hot list, the algorithm is secret even to site administrators. Only our platform developers know the code, which has been exhaustively tested by those developers and Cookie Connection staff.
