Since we're headed into a transitional cookie period with the next big cookie holidays (Cinco de Mayo and Mother's Day) not for another month, it seemed like the right time to mix things up with a "Best of Category" Spotlight. Plus, I imagine most of us have had our fill of cookie eggs and Easter baskets by now! 
For those new to the site or not in the know, a "Best of Category" Spotlight is one where we showcase the top-trending* cookie photo in each of ten cookie categories, rather than the top ten cookies in one category as we usually do.
While the category selections are more or less random, I tried to steer clear of Easter and spring (for reasons already noted!) and focused on categories, like rubber-stamping and weddings, that may have been shortchanged as we oohed and ahhed over adorable chicks and bunnies all month. (That said, a few adorable chicks and bunnies still slipped in!)
Anywho . . . as you're polishing off the last of your Easter cookies, I hope you enjoy this change of pace, presented in no particular order . . .
And to really shake you up, a non-cookie category stand-out . . .

, I'm still going to wish all who celebrate a huge HAPPY EASTER!
* As a reminder, a word about how the rankings are determined: The rankings are not at all subjective. In fact, they are determined essentially by you, our members, and the activity (number of views, likes, and comments) you've bestowed on each photo. The site uses a top-secret algorithm that weighs these various factors to determine which photos are trending most quickly (i.e., are the "hottest") over specified periods of time. As such, the hot list at the time of this announcement may look a little different a few hours or a day from now as more photos are added to the site.
So that no one has an unfair advantage in making it onto a hot list, the algorithm is secret even to site administrators. Only our platform developers know the code, which has been exhaustively tested by those developers and Cookie Connection staff.
