It wasn't so long ago (May 24, to be exact) that I posted a most patriotic list. But that's just an indicator of how time flies - we went from Memorial Day to the lead-up to July Fourth in what seems like no time flat. Phew!
With the US's most patriotic holiday now within close range, stars and stripes have naturally been proudly and consistently displayed all week. But that's not all . . .
In addition to these classic motifs, this week's hot list* boasts expertly decorated troops, sassy vintage sailor tattoos, painstakingly piped camouflage, and other works of cookie love destined for Operation Cookie Takeover and American troops.
I salute this week's hot list for their exemplary cookie work, but, more importantly, all of you who contributed to Operation Cookie Takeover, arguably the greatest act of cookie generosity in the US, if not the world. You would have made Abe Lincoln proud.

In fact, they are determined essentially by you, our members, and the activity (number of views, likes, and comments) you've bestowed on each photo. The site uses a top-secret algorithm that weighs these various factors to determine which photos are trending most quickly (i.e., are the "hottest") over specified periods of time. As such, the hot list at the time of this announcement may look a little different a few hours or a day from now as more photos are added to the site.
