Happy Valentine's Day.   I made this cookie and royal icinng transfer hut for Valentine's Day 2025.  I made a hole for birds' to go in and out.

This is the hut I really wanted to try after I saw @Manu biscotti decorati huts and tutorials.   Manu's wonderful tutorials are here

Recently she posted another beautiful lovely hut

Here are some of the difficulties I faced when making the huts.
1.  It was difficult to apply the icing evenly flat to stencils. I used a spatula like Manu did and other things such as soft spatula, solid ruler and petit knife, but I could not spread the icing evenly and flatly.  Some parts (always at the beginning) are very thin and breakable.

2. The thickness of the icing was supposed to be 2mm like Manu said, that's going to be strong enough but my icing was very thin.  The more I tried to pile up icing, the thinner it became.  Maybe because I paid more attention to make the surface even and I was scraping off the icing that I should not.   Eventually Icould make a hut but was very fragile and I had to be very careful moving the hut.

I really enjoy building huts!  I hope many people try Manu's hut.  Just follow her instruction and use her stencils as she described us precisely, you are going to make a beautiful hut.

The birds and branches were painted.  I haven't done painting on the icing for a while (I hadn't baked cookies for a while anyway), this was also fun.

I put LED candle to light the hut.  Please scroll and see the video how it looks like.

Ooh, I'm loving this spin on Manu's tutorial. So sweet and well done!

Hi @Julia M. Usher.  It is interesting how @Manu biscotti decorati and I make things differently.  Now I am wondering whether I can make something else with the stencils and I am sure Manu makes another surprisingly creative things.

Oooh, Ryoko! This hut is gorgeous and the birds lovely! I love your spin and I so am glad you were able to use the stencils I gave you when we met. I actually haven’t used the square variation for the hut roof yet!

Yes, the icing should be on the thicker side, so the transfer has a solid structure and can be easily manipulated and assembled, and so the hut. You shouldn’t pay too much attention to spread an even layer of icing, because that part will stay inside the hut. Unless you are stenciling a design over it (but even in that case, though).

Did you try to insert a LED light into it?

Can’t wait to see your next creations using my stencils

Ryoko and I met “here” on Cookie Connection in 2016. We have had the chance to meet a few times during the years (in Bangkok, in Japan and in Rome). This year we spent New Year’s Eve together at my house but it was not enough to make everything we have ever wanted to craft together, we just had time to bake some cookies and we didn’t use the stencils.  A little big nice story of connections made here.

Thank you @Manu biscotti decorati. Do you remember I said the roof-shaped transfer could be the bottom of the hut?  I made one and with a mistake I threw away before I put it under the hut.....

My plan was I was going to put some birds on the backside of walls, so when I put LED light the birds could be seen like your ghosts.  But my walls were too thin and the surface was not flat, too fragile to handle and I did not think the birds could be seen clearly.  Next time, I will try that.  By the way, I bought the candle shaped light with a battery at Daiso not LED light, probably too dark (weak)? to put inside the house....  I will try that tomorrow.

Ryoko, your bird house and birds are too cute! Love they so much my dear friend!  @Ryoko ~Cookie Ave. ❤️

Hi Gabi @Icingsugarkeks.  Thank you.   Blue colored birds bring happiness to us, don' they?  I thought so and I painted the birds blue!  Happy Valentine's Day!

Hi @Heather Bruce Sosa Thank you.  I was very happy to use Manu’s stencils but I couldn’t make the transfer like she did at the first time.  @Manu biscotti decorati says the consistency is toothpaste and I started wondering is the consistency of Italian toothpaste as soft as ours???   I watched her videos several times and with her advice my hut is here❣️
