I know that competing can sometimes be daunting for beginning decorators and newbies to competitions, so I thought it would be helpful to hear some advice from one of my competition’s past winners, @Susie Jacobs of Susie Makes Cakes. In 2023, Susie was the third-place winner in the Advanced/Master 3-D Cookie category of Julia M. Usher’s Cookie Art Competition™, and you will see her winning entry at the end of the video below. More About Susie: Susie has always impressed me with her approach to competing. She too was a beginner at one point 😀, but she never let thoughts of “I’m not good enough” prevent her from entering. Quite to the contrary, in 2018, she jumped right in, and she has been avidly competing ever since. More important, she has a clear “it’s not whether I win or lose” philosophy and instead uses competitions as a way to try new things, step out of her comfort zone, and learn and grow. I dare say that her ability to put aside the pressure of winning is one of the things that has contributed to her consistent success.

To register and read all of the 2024 competition rules, please visit the Competition Overview blog post on this site. Entries aren't due until June 30, 2024, so you have plenty of time to create! However, I love early registrations, even before entries are complete, as getting an advance read on the number of entries helps me with planning the rest of the competition! TIA!
