Recap:
Back to August 2016, @Ryoko ~Cookie Ave. and I participated together to the PBP Challenge #18-Collaboration, hosted by @Bakerloo Station on Cookie Connection. We decided to design 3 cookies each and each one of us made a total of 6 cookies, based on both designs. Then, the two couples of 6 cookies had to match like in a memory game. We were both featured and we earned a couple of Cookie Connection badges that we were very thrilled to add to our Autumn themed “memory game”.

As you can see there were 2 more cards above, those with our names, to sign this collaboration. These cards were still face down, which meant that the cookie game (or the collaboration) wasn’t finished yet!

We have been wanting to add “cookie cards” to our game for a long time and the upcoming Spring season was the inspiration:

Cookie collaborations are not so easy. Sometimes they really mean leaving our own comfort zones trying new things and different styles. I have never made animals on cookies and the only two times I did, it happened as I needed to “cookie” Ryoko’s designs (the squirrel in the previous collaboration and the bear now). My bear looks very shy while leaving the trunk ... like me leaving my comfort zone! I am glad I tried!
Ryoko wanted to try royal icing miniatures on cookies, and designed a selection of vegetables: bamboo shoot, bok choy, spring cabbage, spring onions, asparagus and peas. I am not sure to have nailed dimensions and proportions (the bok choy is definitely too big!). I wished I still lived in Milan and visited @Evelindecora for a “miniature class”! But Ryoko showed me how she made hers, and I managed to make mine!
Ryoko also thought about weaving fondant, which was really fun. The weaved cloth recalls the weaved shawl of the previous collaboration, piped with royal icing.
I have always wanted to make cookies with tulips and this was a chance. Moreover, it has been also a chance to try the bokeh effect on the background from a tutorial here on Cookie Connection by Aixa Zunino @Dolce Sentire - Aixa Zunino

Each one of us was free to make the cookies with whatever technique and colors, and the cookies had to match by the design.
We tried to keep a connection with the previous “Autumn set” so there is again the tree (designed by Ryoko) and there is the wreath on the door (designed by Manu). It was March 8 when we discussed about which flowers to put on the wreath, International Women’s Day. So the flowers of mimosa, which is offered to women on March 8 in Italy, was my choice. In Japan Girl’s Day is celebrated on March 3 with pink plum flowers, and that was Ryoko’s choice. I used a mix of mimosa and plum flowers to remember this collaboration between women😊. The title of the clips "A Door to Spring" is by Ryoko, inspired by the door cookie.

Here’s all the cookies together, all the pairs have been made and there is one more card yet to be revealed (our future collaboration).

Thinking designs and making cookies with Ryoko is always so much fun and there will be at least two more collaborations some times in the future (Summer and Winter). I like the way distance and time can be easily cut away when two people share the same passion for cookies, but we still wish we were neighbors! Who knows? Maybe one day we will have all the cookie cards printed out and play the memory game in person while eating some cookies!

This is the link to Ryoko’s clip to see her cookies in detail and her comments:

Oh Manu, that's a dream!  If our cookies are going to be real cards

Again, it was a lot of fun to work with you and now I feel a bit sad, because we finish our spring version.

I like your soft colors,  now I can see yellow line on fondant, I like the way how you put fondant on cookie, your bear is cute, your bokeh effect comes out really nice, now let's open your spring door!!!  (that may lead us to Summer)

Thank you again for your full explanation.

Oh girls, you did it again! I love your memo game so much, this is the tastiest and the pretiest memo game ever!!! LOVE IT! It's so interesting and I love the idea to 'continue' the game with new cards!

Thank you, Zara, we would have probably eaten all the cookies if we played the game in person!😊😊😊.

Time to “cookie” (write) a part II to yours and Ryoko’s story?

Wow! I am impressed!!!

Thank you Christine @Sweet Prodigy! It is always so much fun to design cookies with @Ryoko ~Cookie Ave. I have realized that I am anchored to the same designs. I love benches (in any seasons), sunflowers, daisies and also tulips. Making cookies based on Ryoko’s design helped me to be more open, and to try something new. When I look at my set I am particularly drawn to the cookies that she has designed. And when I look at her set I am drawn to the cookies that she has made based on my design, a different point of view. I find all of this very interesting.😊

I always admire your cookies.  What you create on my design are so cute.
