Thanks to Christine @Sweet Prodigy and Julia @Julia M. Usher for another lovely challenge.

The inspiration for this cookie block came from my sister. She attended a patchwork class in Sri Lanka many years ago. Her tutor was such a lovely lady that introduced this art of sewing. The various patterns were very beautiful.

The dimension of this whole cookie is 10 inches by 10 inches. There are 25 squares that make up the pattern and a border (strip). I thought of patchwork because patchwork squares have different patterns, textures and designs.

Here is what I used to texture the blocks.

I first piped the flowers on the cookie with a wet on wet technique and used a crumpled foil to texture the surface.

The pleats on these cookies were done by pleating parchment paper and laying on the royal iced cookie.

The pattern was wet on wet technique and the silicone mat was placed over it.

Silicone mold placed on royal iced cookie.

This is a flexible plastic fondant impression mat that I used to texture the cookie.

I used a sugar veil mat to texture the cookie.

Here, I used a cupcake paper line cut to smaller pieces.

Of all the materials I used to texture these cookies, parchment paper and the Sugar veil mats worked the best. The impression from the Sugar veil mat was prominent, it dried clean and removing the mat was hassle free.

The plastic flexible mold took longer to dry and did not make fine texture.

Although I do not have photos, I tried using a stencil, however when the icing was dry and I tried to lift the stencil off, the pattern just came off with the stencil.

I really enjoyed this challenge as it gave me the opportunity to try out different textures and figure out what works best.

Wow! There are so many amazing textures included in your design. I love how your quilt mimics the patterns and textures that can be found in actual fabrics, especially the lace detail and the waffle weave border. It really adds a wonderful sense of realism. This is really a wonderful and thoughtful entry. Did you plan out the design in advance or was it based more on experimenting with different techniques?

Thank you Christine @Sweet Prodigy. I did plan out the design in advance. As soon as I saw this challenge, patchwork just popped in my head. I had done some patchwork sewing in the past and I had all these fondant mats that I use for cake decorating so it was only a matter of putting it all together. I really enjoyed this project because I had done a cookie with pleating parchment paper but never using silicone mats molds or foil.

Oh Zeena @Zeena, how in the world did I miss this masterpiece?!!!! This is absolutely gorgeous work. I just love all the texture and how it all fits together perfectly. Awesome work my dear ❤️❤️❤️ Hugs...
