This is Sri Lankan breakfast Hopper meal. Even though I had lots of ideas when I saw the entry first, life got triple busy than never amidst Covid19. Due to sudden change in usual routine everyone stuck at home due to lockdown, shops closed and only necessities available, all are working and learning from home made me super busy. Still I really wanted to participate in PBP challenge so this is an entry made with lots of effort through many challenges and with fewer ingredients.
This traditional breakfast hopper meal include Egg hoppers, Lunumiris (spicy Sri Lankan Sambal paste served as a condiment), curry leaves Sambol. Usually we have this meal for breakfast in Sri Lanka together with banana and Black tea with Jaggery. This is one of the delicious breakfast meals. This could be unfamiliar to most of you are here.
Hoppers - Used Rolled fondants circles and press it into a dome shaped mold and made small holes around the circle using the scribble tool. Then I piped the egg york in the middle. Painted outline of the hoppers with brown gel colouring to bring the roasted edge effect. Sprinkle some black coloured icing sugar to reflect pepper. Plate is a big cookie. Flooded with white RI and draw the design using wet-on -wet technique.
Lunumiris & curry leaves Sambol - made some different shaped and different coloured RI transfers. Then crushed them a little and mixed together to bring the real effect and texture. Used baked cookie cups as bowls.
Black Tea & Jaggery - made the tea cup using fondant paste and used a cookie as the mat. It covered with basket wave pattern using RI. Made caramelized sugar syrup and let it cool down completely before I pour into the cup. Apologies! I have missed to take photos while making cup and sugar syrup. Used fondant pieces as Jaggery, painted with brown gel colours and coated with cocoa powder to get the real Jaggery effect.
First time I used fondant and RI together also never used caramelized sugar syrup for a cookie project before.
Happy to take part in Christine’s amazing first PBP challenge despite many challenges.

First I shaped white fondant piece into a shape of a banana then I covered it with yellow fondant. Added tiny bit of light green fondant up and down the corners and shaped it like a banana. I painted the edges with dark brown gel colouring. Here I attach how it looks when it is cut. Hope you can get an idea.
All of the techniques and media that you used make this the perfect "breakfast" set. I like how you used some great techniques that are easy to follow along with and that anyone can apply. What I really like is how you used them in unique and creative ways that really give us an opportunity to learn. Your hoppers are a perfect example of this. Your use of multiple techniques and media really make this a convincingly realistic entry.
