Houston, We Have a Problem . . . Getting to CookieCon

With a mild fear of flying, I knew that it might not be easy to get on a plane to Salt Lake City . . . but as I come from New Jersey, driving was not an option for me.

Problem #1 - My flight was scheduled to leave at 6:30 am, so wake-up time was 4 am (!!) to get to the airport in time. After a quick shower and final check of my luggage and carry-on cookies, I loaded them in the car. As I sat in the front seat, my husband loaded his gear for work in the trunk, and we were off to the airport.

Problem #2 - We arrived at the airport around 5:30 am, all set for my flight, and I got out to unload my luggage and NO COOKIES!!! "Where is my cookie box?," I asked my husband; he just looked at me and said . . . "You're taking your cookie box?" He had unloaded it from the trunk at home . . . "I'll FedEx it to you," he said as he sped off so he could get to work.

IT IS A COOKIE CONFERENCE!! I have no cookies.

Problem #3 - I am now in Houston. The travel agent has booked me to Salt Lake City via Houston and Denver (my aunt lives there) . . . More flights . . .

To be continued . . .

JenniferBESTJennifer Wallace, aka jennibakes4uis a Certified Wilton Method Instructor and has been decorating cakes for over 25 years. A few years ago, she started decorating cookies, and she now ships her edible works of art nationwide. Her kitchen is registered and inspected by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. "Most of the cookies I make are gingerbread, as I love the texture and taste when paired with royal icing," adds Jennifer.

While at CookieCon, Jennifer is going to give video interviews with Mike, Karen, and instructors a go, but if the video part doesn't work out, she'll convey all the same great content in blog posts with photos! Jennifer also aims to interview others on the subject of the business of cookies.

Ooh, Jenni! I feel your pain - I hate getting separated from my cookies when I travel! But I'm sure you and they will make it safely in one piece. I look forward to hearing more once you (and they) get there!

Smiling at Jenn.  What a surprise.  At Problem #1, it was an omen to me.  As I read on, admittedly, I smiled and felt your ache.  I would have been all riled up, in a tizzy!  Hooray for hubby!

Hello all,

I arrived, finally, safe at COOKIECON!!! Had an amazing day with Pre-Conference Classes . . . Having some trouble posting from my device, but will get photos up as soon as I can. Thanks for all of your good wishes!
