Priceless Competition Advice from Gold Sponsor and Sugar Hero Susan Trianos

Last week, you heard from Susie Jacobs, a 2023 winner in Julia M. Usher’s Cookie Art Competition, who talked about how she plans and preps for competition – and mine in particular, which was super helpful!

And just yesterday, I had the pleasure of chatting with one of our very special 2024 Gold Sponsors, a person who has perhaps more competing and judging experience than anyone I know . . . yes, I’m talking about American Cake Awards’ 2024 Sugar Hero, the remarkable Susan Trianos of Learn to Cake with Susan Trianos.

In this recording of our chat, Susan covers so much territory, but there are three things I know you won't want to miss:
  • her Holy Trinity of Competition Must-Dos (which is great advice for both new and seasoned competitors);
  • what she looks for when judging (even more great advice); and
  • the reveal of her prizes in this year's competition (whoa)!

Susan also helps me answer some lingering questions about the competition theme (Your Eras Tour) and the registration/entry process.

Whether you’re planning to enter my competition or still on the fence about it, this video is a must-watch either way! Again, for all of the competition rules and a reg link, check out the Competition Overview post (as I also recommend in the video 😀)!

P.S. I apologize for the "we're recording" at the start of the video and the sketchy audio-video syncing in areas, but the video is a live recording and internet connections were also sketchy at recording time. 😀

Thanks again to Susan for sharing her many valuable competition insights with us! And thanks as well to our other amazing sponsors who made this year's record-breaking prizes ($25,500!) possible.

As always, if you have any competition questions even after watching this video, just post a comment below or email me. Have fun prepping your entries!
