One of my sisters and I decided to attempt a new baking project each month. The goal is to try a new technique, flavor profile, cooking method, or some combination of the previously mentioned. This month, in honor of St. Patrick's Day, we're going for a porter bundt cake with a whiskey caramel sauce. While I am hopeful all will go well with this new recipe, I need a reliable backup dessert for a gathering next weekend. For me, that is, and always will be, cookies. Though, usually cookies are not the backup but rather the specifically requested star. As luck would have it (pun absolutely intended), St. Patrick's Day provides an opportunity for delightful decorating. And, Cookie Connection is a pot of gold of inspiration - pun intended again! Here are some of the beautiful St. Patrick's Day designs that have been trending the fastest over the past seven days . . .
#1: St. Patrick’s Day Fun by Anne Bodeman Widga (Such a fun collection!)
#2: Saint Patrick’s Day by Seattle Cookie Maker (I love the "today" on the "Kiss me" cookie.)
#3: St. Patrick’s Day with My Gnomies by Cajun Home Sweets (This adorable collection was featured last week and is still trending strong!)
#4: Pots of Gold by Teri Pringle Wood (These little guys always bring a smile to my face.)
#5: St. Patrick’s Day by TriciaZ@Tricia’s Cookie Cottage
#6: Sneaky Leprechaun by kns93 (I think the sneaky rainbow is so much fun.)
#7: Four-Leaf Clovers by Paige Ayers
#8: Little Leprechauns by Teri Pringle Wood (Another set of Teri's gorgeous creations!)
#9: St. Patty’s Tea by Buttercup Cookie (These cups are so elegant. Given the celebratory nature of St. Patrick's Day, I can't help but think of whiskey in a tea cup . . .)
#10: St. Patrick’s Day Cookies by Anne Giancola
I hope all of these leprechauns, shamrocks, and pots of gold have given you some joyful inspiration. There's probably a clever Irish quote to insert here but I can't think of one (likely a downside to being Irish for only a day!) Also, don't forget about Watch-Learn-Create Challenge #53. Many wonderful entries have already been submitted, and there is still plenty of time to use @Laura Saporiti's techniques to paint a floral cookie (and to possibly win another free tutorial by Laura)!
Until next time, I hope you have a week filled with cookies, rainbows, and enough good luck for everyone!

Lisa Foss is a hobbyist cookie decorator. After careers in corporate communications and freelance writing, she focused her attention on the nonprofit sector. She spent more than a decade at various soup kitchens, homeless shelters, and prison reentry programs throughout New York City. Lisa’s cookie journey began in 2011 when she started making gingerbread houses. After getting a handle on construction, she focused on improving her decorating skills through books, videos, and online tutorials. This exploration brought her to Cookie Connection, which has provided her with an incredible community to learn from and grow with. Though she enjoys making cookies for family and friends, Lisa’s main focus is cookies for charity. She has frequently donated cookies to Food Bank for New York City, Boys and Girls Club of Harlem, and the Children’s Aid Society, among others. In 2020, Lisa and her husband moved from New York to the eastern shore of Maryland where they already had a part-time residence. The move has enabled her to significantly improve her decorating skills. She continues to donate cookies to various local charities.
