Well, it seems like we've finally emerged from winter here in St. Louis. Temperatures dropped below freezing only a couple of nights this week, my newly planted perennials didn't seem to object to the light frost on their leaves, and my five baby wrens (nesting in my old Christmas greens) seem pretty darn cozy even without Mother Bird hovering over them.
Another telltale sign that spring has sprung - your posts! This week's hot list* is a veritable harbinger of the season with pretty pansies (looking so lifelike that I did a double-take), butterflies, pots of sparkly flowers, and a doll in spring garb holding a dainty posy. There were still a few nods to colder seasons, like Valentine's Day hearts and woodland animals, but I think we can safely stow our winter coats and continue cranking out spring-themed cookies without hesitation!

Congrats again to those honored this week! Just one housekeeping note before I let you go . . . I'll be traveling for the next two weeks (first to SoFlo in Miami and then to teach in the Dominican Republic), so I will be unable to publish Spotlights for the next two weekends. (I've learned over time that trying to travel, teach, and maintain this site and a personal life all at once do not a sane Julia make! 
) I apologize for the hiatus, but promise to resume our normal Spotlight schedule on May 12.
