Saturday Spotlight: Top 10 Cookies

Earlier this week, I noticed a sign on an office door that read, "Octobering . . . be back soon". I found it to be the perfect phrase for how I am feeling at this particular moment. There is so much going on! So many festivals, celebrations, and sporting events. Halloween is also right around the corner. And, in my area anyway, we have bake sale after bake sale after bake sale! The downside of all of this activity is that I need more sleep. The upside is that my kitchen smells divine!

Based on this week's hot list*, I suspect that many of your kitchens are smelling spectacular as well! Let's take a look at what some of you have been up to.

#1: Royal Icing-Free Christmas Cookies by Mariana Meirelles Moreira (Yes, I am a fall girl, but these cuties are a cue that the Christmas holiday will be here before we know it. @Mariana Meirelles Moreira also reminds us of the beauty and speed of icing-free designs.)

#7: Catrina Mexicana by Yazz Ross (@Yazz Ross' unconventional color choices, bold design, and pristine piping caught Julia's and my attention immediately, which is why these striking skulls earned this week's cover spot! Special congrats, Yazz!)

#8: Portrait Cookie by Mahsa_abbasi (This stunner isn't just @Mahsa_abbasi's third featured cookie of the week; it's also a three-time Spotlightee. Very well done!)

#9: Cute Pumpkin Kittens by Yazz Ross (@Yazz Ross does it again this week; this time with the cutest pumpkin kittens I could imagine!)

#10: Cozy Fall by MANUELA CANTÙ (This set makes me feel like @MANUELA CANTÙ is also Octobering; don't you think?! 😉)
#10 - Cozy Fall by Manuela Cantu

How was that for Octobering? We had cozy. We had spooky. We had festive. And we had so many absolute delights! I hope everyone is well and enjoying this lovely season!

* As a reminder, a word about how the rankings are determined: The rankings are not at all subjective. In fact, they are determined essentially by you, our members, and the activity (number of views, likes, and comments) you've bestowed on each photo. The site uses a top-secret algorithm that weighs these various factors to determine which photos are trending most quickly (i.e., are the "hottest") over specified periods of time. As such, the hot list at the time of this announcement may look a little different a few hours or a day from now as more photos are added to the site.

So that no one has an unfair advantage in making it onto a hot list, the algorithm is secret even to site administrators. Only our platform developers know the code, which has been exhaustively tested by those developers and Cookie Connection staff.

All photos shown here are the courtesy (and copyright) of the designers listed.

To check out our other hot lists, at any time of day, visit our Hot Spot, also found in the site's main navigation line.
