Saturday Spotlight: Top 10 Summer Cookies

With temperatures consistently topping 90°F, not just back in St. Louis, but also on my cookie trip to Jakarta this week, I must say I am not much in the mood for turning on ovens or generating any unnecessary body heat. Thankfully, all of my cookies are already baked for the week, so I can sit back and just decorate. And when not doing my own cookie stuff, I plan to enjoy the beauty of this week's hot list* in the comfort of my air-conditioned hotel room!

My cookie caddies, safely contained in my air-conditioned hotel room during a long layover in Tokyo.

All of this week's honored cookies are indeed "hot", not only  because they've been trending high on this site, but also because they pay tribute to the summer sun in different ways. One basks under it on the Greek island of Hydra; another shows Santa at rest under it; and still others display glorious blooms that flourish under it! I'm sure each and every one of our honorees will cast a bright light on your day.

So, enjoy, and continue to create hot cookies that are also eminently cool!

Congrats again to this week's winners, and have a great weekend, everyone!

* As a reminder, a word about how the rankings are determined: The rankings are not at all subjective. In fact, they are determined essentially by you, our members, and the activity (number of views, likes, and comments) you've bestowed on each photo. The site uses a top-secret algorithm that weighs these various factors to determine which photos are trending most quickly (i.e., are the "hottest") over specified periods of time. As such, the hot list at the time of this announcement may look a little different a few hours or a day from now as more photos are added to the site.

So that no one has an unfair advantage in making it onto a hot list, the algorithm is secret even to site administrators. Only our platform developers know the code, which has been exhaustively tested by those developers and Cookie Connection staff.

All photos shown here are the courtesy (and copyright) of the designers listed.

To check out our other hot lists, at any time of day, visit our Hot Spot, also found in the site's main navigation line.

No, they didn't break anything, but they tried!  I just arrived in Jakarta in time for dinner, and am exhausted. Tomorrow is a busy prep day so I'm going to try to get some sleep now. If the internet connection improves here (I can't load Facebook), I'll try to post some food photos there.

Absolutely chuffed to bits to see my sand castles here .  Can't believe I'm in the top 10 with all these beautiful cookies.  Congratulations everyone. Happy summer Julia!

Do you have a Facebook page? When I post this alert to Facebook (if I can get on), I'd like to tag you, but you didn't come up the first time I tried to tag. Since then, I haven't been able to get onto Facebook.

Hi Julia, not too savvy with Facebook but do have page as Shell's Sweet Serendipity with my bits & pieces on (not very well advertised I'm afraid, just usual friends & family in UK really )  - when did I get old ?!

Can you send me the link to the page? (to sweetlife@juliausher.com) I still could not bring it up when I tried to search your business name and tag it, but I could at least insert the link in the post, if you could forward. Thanks!

Thank you! And many thanks for sending us the badge! I am so honored to have my cookie featured. I made it last minute the night before I left forAruba so that I could leave it with a monetary tip to the hotel housekeeping. Aruba is truly such a beautiful island with very friendly locals and I am very happy my cookie was featured. It's my tribute  to such a beautiful country! Xoxo, Arlene Chua

It's always so nice to be in the the Saturday Spotlight. Particularly if you don't expect it. Congrats to all the cookiers featured! Happy to be here with you!❤️ Thank you for your likes
