Hi, competitors! As you know, the 2022 virtual edition of Julia M. Usher’s Cookie Art Competition™ closed for entries yesterday, October 15. First and foremost, congrats to all of the registrants who successfully delivered entries to the virtual judging “table”! Seeing an idea through to fruition is 90% of any competition! I am pleased to report that the field of entries is more diverse than ever, with countries as far-ranging as Iran, Japan, China, the United States, and others being represented. It’s very exciting to see that this competition reached cookiers across the globe – truly.
If you entered, here’s a brief summary of what to expect from here. Please also follow the competition section of this blog for further updates. It’s the best place to go for the latest competition news.
Participation certificates (NEW THIS YEAR!) will be individually emailed to all entrants over the next few days or so. Feel free to share them widely as a way to celebrate your success in making it this far, and to help spread the word about the competition for next year. Please be patient, as I have a large number of certificates to create. If you do not get your certificate by October 23, then email me (sweetlife@juliausher.com) to check on its whereabouts. Also important to note: due to internet restrictions in Iran, I may not be able to get certificates to Iranian entrants. Unfortunately, this matter is beyond anyone’s control.
Judging will commence on October 19, and is expected to culminate with finalist announcements on November 18, and then the winner reveal on November 30, give or take.
If you are interested in receiving your scores along with judges’ feedback, you must request this material by emailing me (sweetlife@juliausher.com) no later than November 30. The judges and I will not prepare feedback for entrants who do not express interest in receiving it, as each feedback request can take an hour or more to process. We will start processing feedback requests after winners are announced on November 30, in the order requests are received. Again, please be patient; it may take two weeks or more to prepare all of the feedback.
Congrats once more to those who entered, and best of luck as the judging process unfolds. Also, please stay tuned for more information coming late in the year about the 2023 edition of my competition. It will return to an in-person format at That Takes the Cake Show in Austin, Texas, and the theme will be “International Holidays”.
