Well, I've been aching to spill the beans for nearly two weeks now, and I finally can!
Earlier tonight, the winners of the 2014 Cake Masters Magazine Awards were announced live in Birmingham, England at Cake International, the world's largest cake decorating show. This was a first-ever awards ceremony for Cake Masters, so it was a rather big deal!
The judging process this year was excruciating - I know firsthand, because I labored for many hours, looking and re-looking at portfolio submissions, to make my selections! It was a tight race in all six sweets categories, and my fellow judges felt the same way.
But ultimately, we made the hard decisions and settled on a list of 2014 winners. Here's a quick rundown of who won in five of the six sweets categories (plus, some of the other special categories). You can read more about the finalists (and soon the winners) in Cake Masters' upcoming December issue and also on their awards site.

You may have noticed that my favorite category - cookies! - is missing from the list above, and that's because I purposely wanted to build even more suspense!
As a reminder, the cookie finalists this year included these four notables, three of whom are also Cookie Connection members whose work consistently sky-rockets to the top of this site:
Every one of these cookiers deserves a huge round of applause, because all of their submitted portfolios were truly remarkable. That said, there can only be one winner, and this year the Cake Masters Cookie Award went to none other than the supremely talented . . .
MALLORY MAE CHIAVACCI OF BUTTERWINKS!
Here she is, just moments ago, receiving her award remotely . . .
What an impressive stage on which to win such an impressive honor!
Mallory, my personal congratulations! I am thrilled for you, and hope that instead of reading this right now (or while reading this), you're enjoying a well-deserved glass of champagne. Cheers! And congrats again to all of the nominees!
Stay tuned for the announcement of Cookie Connection's expanded awards program on November 20. There's more awards fun to come!
