Happy belated New Year, everyone! I hope you all welcomed in 2016 with a bang - and lots of cookies, of course! (So sorry for the delayed Spotlight, but I was otherwise occupied this weekend with various renditions of Auld Lang Syne*, not-to-be-missed family gatherings, and too much champagne!

Fortunately, the old adage "better late than never" couldn't be more accurate this week. Over the last few days, scads of eye-catching and festive New Year's cookies have posted to the site, and, tonight, I'm celebrating the week's best of the best in this Spotlight. Even though each honoree is highly thematic (naturally), this week's hot list** displays myriad techniques, from glitzy airbrushing and edible gold leaf to hand-molded isomalt and wafer paper confetti, all of which can be applied to cookies throughout 2016!
