Happy Saturday! It's that special time again when we celebrate the week's finest decorated cookies. And, boy, are they ever fine!
In an effort to disrupt another cookie rut (this time, it's the thousands of dots I'm laying on cookie jewelry boxes and bunting . . . don't ask), I've resorted to another "Best in Category" roundup.
If you didn't catch my first such roundup a few weeks ago, here's a reminder of how it works: rather than featuring the top 10 cookies of the week, or the top 10 within a particular cookie category, I'm spotlighting the top in each of 10 hot categories. In addition to mixing up the normal protocol* (which is always refreshing), these roundups serve as a reminder of the diverse array of cookie categories featured on this site.
Below, you'll see the best in boys' birthday, brush embroidery, character, and seven other cookie categories. This being the case, the week's honorees are ordered alphabetically by category, not in any rank order.
Now . . . if these cookies don't break my dot routine, I don't know what will! Though each design expresses a different theme or technique, they have one thing in common - all are truly inspiring.

* As a reminder, a word about how the rankings are determined: The rankings are not at all subjective. In fact, they are determined essentially by you, our members, and the activity (number of views, likes, and comments) you've bestowed on each photo. The site uses a top-secret algorithm that weighs these various factors to determine which photos are trending most quickly (i.e., are the "hottest") over specified periods of time. As such, the hot list at the time of this announcement may look a little different a few hours or a day from now as more photos are added to the site. But what you see here is who was hottest over the previous week at the time of this post!
So that no one has an unfair advantage in making it onto a hot list, the algorithm is secret even to site administrators. Only our platform developers know the code, which has been exhaustively tested by those developers and Cookie Connection staff.
