[EDITOR'S NOTE: Last week, I mentioned that I would have a surprise for you tonight, and do I ever! I am thrilled to announce that longtime member and Spotlight regular @LisaF has very generously agreed to step in every other week to write these Spotlights. It's become abundantly clear over the last several months that I can't keep up with them on my own, so I can't tell you how grateful I am for Lisa's support. This week, Lisa makes her Spotlight debut in a format that's very similar to what you all know so well, but I suspect Lisa may want to shake things up a bit over time. We shall see! Lisa, thanks again - you are a savior - and congrats on a terrific first Spotlight! ~JMU]

Happy (almost) end of February everyone! I'm not sure how the weather is where you are but where I am - on the east coast of the United States - things have been all over the place. In a matter of days, we went from 80 degrees and sunny to blustery winds and snow! The meteorologist tried to put a positive spin on the chaos by saying that there was something for everyone. Just like my local weather report, this week's hot list* has something for everyone, and the spin is definitely positive!
Tonight's list has a couple of double honorees, a couple of repeat inclusions, and a couple of inspiring entries for Watch-Learn-Create Challenge #53. All of this double-talk is a good reminder to keep those posts coming! We want to hear from you, celebrate your work, and let everyone see it too. In the meantime, I am sure you will agree that there is indeed something for everyone this week . . .
#1: I Miss You All! by Elke Hoelzle (@Elke Hoelzle is one of our honorees who was also featured last week. This beautiful creation has been trending high for the past seven days, moving from tenth to first place!)
#2: Orchid Flower Painting by Zeena (This cookie is @Zeena's second entry in Watch-Learn-Create Challenge #53. BTW, if you haven't yet checked out this challenge, you should. Featured guest @Laura Saporiti kicks it off with master-level instruction on watercolor painting.)
#3: Orchestra Cookies by coco.icingcookie (I bet this birthday gift hit all the right notes with @coco.icingcookie's very lucky friend!)
#4: Whimsical Lingerie by Cookies Fantastique (This lovely set is one of two that @Cookies Fantastique, aka Carol, has featured this week.)
#5: Murder Mystery Party by MegMeACake (This set earned our coveted cover spot for demonstrating that cookies can convey just about anything! It is also the first of two spotlighted sets for @MegMeACake. Two wonderful accomplishments in one week!)
#6: Princess and the 🐸 by kns93
#7: Watercolor Roses by Zeena (This set not only marks @Zeena's second appearance on this week's hot list, it is also her second - actually first! - entry in Watch-Learn-Create Challenge #53. It was featured in last week's Spotlight and has continued to trend and inspire all week!)
#8: Birthday at the Ballpark by MegMeACake (Here's @MegMeACake's second feature that I mentioned earlier. From murder to baseball . . . there is always a good reason for cookies!)
#9: Happy Valentine's Day, Art Deco Style by Cookies Fantastique (Another set that has continued to trend and delight, this 3-D stunner was number one on our list last week! Congrats again, Carol!)
#10: Pole Dancing by Los dulces de Kolo
So there you have it. Something for everyone. Though I have no idea how predictable the weather is going to be next week, I do predict that we'll have a variety of delicious creations to celebrate. Can't wait to see what you do!
So that no one has an unfair advantage in making it onto a hot list, the algorithm is secret even to site administrators. Only our platform developers know the code, which has been exhaustively tested by those developers and Cookie Connection staff.

Lisa Foss is a hobbyist cookie decorator. After careers in corporate communications and freelance writing, she focused her attention on the nonprofit sector. She spent more than a decade at various soup kitchens, homeless shelters, and prison reentry programs throughout New York City. Lisa’s cookie journey began in 2011 when she started making gingerbread houses. After getting a handle on construction, she focused on improving her decorating skills through books, videos, and online tutorials. This exploration brought her to Cookie Connection, which has provided her with an incredible community to learn from and grow with. Though she enjoys making cookies for family and friends, Lisa’s main focus is cookies for charity. She has frequently donated cookies to Food Bank for New York City, Boys and Girls Club of Harlem, and the Children’s Aid Society, among others. In 2020, Lisa and her husband moved from New York to the eastern shore of Maryland where they already had a part-time residence. The move has enabled her to significantly improve her decorating skills. She continues to donate cookies to various local charities.
