Saturday Spotlight: Top 10 Cookies

The stretch between the middle of spring and the beginning of summer feels like a continuous celebration. Birthdays! Father's Day! Graduations! I've mentioned this before but, for me anyway, this year seems to be in celebratory overdrive. However, this is not a bad thing . . . I welcome the opportunity to focus my attention on finding the perfect cookie for any occasion. And what an inspiring collection we have this week which does just that!

Because there was no Saturday Spotlight last week, this hot list* is a combination of cookies that have trended over the past two weeks.

#1: For Ruthy by Heather Bruce Sosa (@Heather Bruce Sosa has added so many details to give this pretty set a perfect vintage feel.)
#1 - For Ruthy by Heather Bruce Sosa

#2: A Box of Sunflowers by Edyta Kołodziej (This summery delight is for the latest Watch-Learn-Create Challenge #54, which is all about piped flower bouquets. Nice work, @Edyta Kołodziej! Everyone else, if you haven't yet checked out the challenge, please do. The featured guest is @Anna_Sunday_Cookers, and she's done a superlative job of demystifying how to make lifelike cookie bouquets. Her tutorial is info-packed and free, and she's even giving away another cookie class to one randomly drawn challenge entrant!)

#3: Graduation Season by Wendy Cubic (One lucky graduate was honored with Penn State-perfect piping. Impressive, @Wendy Cubic!)
#3 - Graduation Season by Wendy Cubic

#4: Summer Fun by Sweet Sophia's (This set made such a splash that we decided to feature it in this week's cover spot. Congratulations, @Sweet Sophia's!)
#4 - Summer Fun by Sweet Sophia's Cookies

#5: Archaeological Finds! by Di Art Sweets (Such a clever graduation set, @Di Art Sweets!)
#5 - Archeological Finds! by Di Art Sweets

#6: Piped Flower Bouquet by Petra Florean (Another wonderful entry in Watch-Learn-Create Challenge #54. Congratulations, @Petra Florean, for being the first participant! Here's to many, many more entries from you and others!)
#6 - Piped Flower Bouquet by Petra Florean

#7: Marie Antoinette Cookies by Evelindecora (An oldie but goody by the amazing @Evelindecora.)
#7 - Marie Antoinette Cookies by Evelindecora

#8: Golf Season by Karla (I love the use of nonpareils for spectators. Such a fun detail, @Karla.)
#8 - Golf Season by Karla

#9: Simple Desert Landscape Featuring a Joshua Tree by EAC (The color combination and spare detailing really make for a striking image. Great job, @EAC!)
#9 - Simple Desert Landscape Featuring a Joshua Tree by EAC

#10: Space Cookies by Art of Cookies (These handpainted beauties are out of this world! Super fun, @Art of Cookies!)
#10 - Space Cookies by Art of Cookies

Now that is quite the collection, isn't it?! A big congratulations to everyone featured. Don't forget to check out Watch-Learn-Create Challenge #54. There is plenty of time to enter, and two entries were already featured this week! Of course, if you just want to watch Anna's video tutorial, that is fine too - but, remember, you will only qualify for the random drawing if you enter a cookie bouquet based on Anna's free lesson!

I'm off now to prepare the house (and cookies!) for arriving guests. Unfortunately, storms are predicted during their journey. Though I can't control the weather, I can certainly offer a warm welcome. A fresh plate of cookies will help take the edge off of what may turn out be a rather stormy ride . . .

Have a wonderful week!

* As a reminder, a word about how the rankings are determined: The rankings are not at all subjective. In fact, they are determined essentially by you, our members, and the activity (number of views, likes, and comments) you've bestowed on each photo. The site uses a top-secret algorithm that weighs these various factors to determine which photos are trending most quickly (i.e., are the "hottest") over specified periods of time. As such, the hot list at the time of this announcement may look a little different a few hours or a day from now as more photos are added to the site.

So that no one has an unfair advantage in making it onto a hot list, the algorithm is secret even to site administrators. Only our platform developers know the code, which has been exhaustively tested by those developers and Cookie Connection staff.

All photos shown here are the courtesy (and copyright) of the designers listed.

To check out our other hot lists, at any time of day, visit our Hot Spot, also found in the site's main navigation line.

Great work, everyone, and thanks again to contributor @LisaF for pulling together this Spotlight, especially on a weekend when she had guests in house!

Thank you, thank you, thanks so much! This was a tryout to a new technique (volume), and a gift for a dear friend. Cherished feelings added by using my Nanny’s Limoges plate to the pic.

Thank you for the honour and congratulations to all the amazing cookiers spotlighted  @Edyta Kołodziej, @Wendy Cubic, @Sweet Sophia's, @Di Art Sweets, @Petra Florean, @Evelindecora, @Karla, @EAC, @Art of Cookies!!♥️

Thank you so much for including me in this post!  I continue to be inspired by and learn from the amazing cookiers who share in this forum.@LisaF

I wanted to add that I made these cookies for the high school girls' golf team on which my daughter played during her high school tenure.  We love golf!

It is such a treat to participate in the thoughtful feedback afforded within this community!   What is brought to life by something that is envisioned in one's head usually comes with much insecurity.  It is a supporting help to hear the gracious and honest take from others familiar with the challenges of these sugar arts.  Thank you all for your kind support and encouragement!
