The stretch between the middle of spring and the beginning of summer feels like a continuous celebration. Birthdays! Father's Day! Graduations! I've mentioned this before but, for me anyway, this year seems to be in celebratory overdrive. However, this is not a bad thing . . . I welcome the opportunity to focus my attention on finding the perfect cookie for any occasion. And what an inspiring collection we have this week which does just that!
Because there was no Saturday Spotlight last week, this hot list* is a combination of cookies that have trended over the past two weeks.
#1: For Ruthy by Heather Bruce Sosa (@Heather Bruce Sosa has added so many details to give this pretty set a perfect vintage feel.)
#2: A Box of Sunflowers by Edyta Kołodziej (This summery delight is for the latest Watch-Learn-Create Challenge #54, which is all about piped flower bouquets. Nice work, @Edyta Kołodziej! Everyone else, if you haven't yet checked out the challenge, please do. The featured guest is @Anna_Sunday_Cookers, and she's done a superlative job of demystifying how to make lifelike cookie bouquets. Her tutorial is info-packed and free, and she's even giving away another cookie class to one randomly drawn challenge entrant!)
#3: Graduation Season by Wendy Cubic (One lucky graduate was honored with Penn State-perfect piping. Impressive, @Wendy Cubic!)
#4: Summer Fun by Sweet Sophia's (This set made such a splash that we decided to feature it in this week's cover spot. Congratulations, @Sweet Sophia's!)
#5: Archaeological Finds! by Di Art Sweets (Such a clever graduation set, @Di Art Sweets!)
#6: Piped Flower Bouquet by Petra Florean (Another wonderful entry in Watch-Learn-Create Challenge #54. Congratulations, @Petra Florean, for being the first participant! Here's to many, many more entries from you and others!)
#7: Marie Antoinette Cookies by Evelindecora (An oldie but goody by the amazing @Evelindecora.)
#8: Golf Season by Karla (I love the use of nonpareils for spectators. Such a fun detail, @Karla.)
#9: Simple Desert Landscape Featuring a Joshua Tree by EAC (The color combination and spare detailing really make for a striking image. Great job, @EAC!)
#10: Space Cookies by Art of Cookies (These handpainted beauties are out of this world! Super fun, @Art of Cookies!)
Now that is quite the collection, isn't it?! A big congratulations to everyone featured. Don't forget to check out Watch-Learn-Create Challenge #54. There is plenty of time to enter, and two entries were already featured this week! Of course, if you just want to watch Anna's video tutorial, that is fine too - but, remember, you will only qualify for the random drawing if you enter a cookie bouquet based on Anna's free lesson!
I'm off now to prepare the house (and cookies!) for arriving guests. Unfortunately, storms are predicted during their journey. Though I can't control the weather, I can certainly offer a warm welcome. A fresh plate of cookies will help take the edge off of what may turn out be a rather stormy ride . . .
Have a wonderful week!
