Wow - what a stunning collection of fresh, new cookies! Thanks, everyone, for the active posting this week; your beauties have really livened up the site. This hot list* has impressive CookieCon Sugar Show entries, fondant-covered wonders made with the most amazing mold-and-cutter kits (also made by the same cookie artist), beautifully delicate florals, and even glimpses of Halloween. (It's never too soon for Halloween in my kitchen! Don't you feel the same way?!)
Anywho, time is extra precious this week (I'm juggling way too many great cookie events), so let's fast-forward to our honorees . . .
#1: Curiosities by Susie Jacobs [EDITOR'S NOTE: Being number one on our hot list is a big honor as is. But I was simply so enamored with the tiny details in Susie's CookieCon entry that I had to also give it this week's cover spot. Congrats, Susie! ~JMU]
#2: Parnassus on Wheels by Susie Jacobs [EDITOR'S NOTE: Susie did it again with another CookieCon entry! This one was entered in the Books and Literature category. ~JMU]
#3: Christening Collection by Little-Fancies [EDITOR'S NOTE: This set is the one I alluded to earlier with the magnificent florals. So pretty, aren't they?! ~JMU]
#4: Trick or Treat by Mary Kraft [EDITOR'S NOTE: What a darling first glimpse of Halloween! ~JMU]
#5: Sea Birthday by Skilful Cook [EDITOR'S NOTE: Such a lovely color scheme coupled with equally lovely painting! ~JMU]
#6: Birthday Cookies by Gloriabakes [EDITOR'S NOTE: More cute seaside animals featured prominently in a birthday set! What's not to love about these smiling faces?! ~JMU]
#7: Mexican Set by lulubakes [EDITOR'S NOTE: It's best you zoom in on this one so you don't miss its wide variety of techniques. And what about those nachos?! Did you also do a double-take, thinking they might be the real thing? ~JMU]
#8: His Name is Tiger! by Ryoko ~Cookie Ave. [EDITOR'S NOTE: After a bit of a hiatus on the site, Ryoko charms us with another delightful baby set! Last week, her set of the same theme also hit the hot list. Way to go, Ryoko, and welcome back! ~JMU]
#9: Halloween Cookies by Lorena Rodríguez [EDITOR'S NOTE: Our second glimpse of Halloween this week - and what a richly detailed one it is! Lorena is not only the designer of these fondant-covered cookies, but also the mastermind behind the tool kits used to make them. I encourage you to check out her site for many more creative themed kits. ~JMU]
#10: A Fun Windmill Project by Cookies Fantastique [EDITOR'S NOTE: Yes, this project is so darn fun that it's captured enough interest to land on the hot list for the second week in a row. Kudos to Carol!]
Gorgeous work, everyone. @LisaF will return with next week's Spotlight as I am hopefully wrapping up work on the next Cookier Close-up and tutorial. Stay tuned!
So that no one has an unfair advantage in making it onto a hot list, the algorithm is secret even to site administrators. Only our platform developers know the code, which has been exhaustively tested by those developers and Cookie Connection staff.
