It's that time of year when cookiers finally get a breather from the extended holiday rush (which, these days, runs from Christmas through Mothers' Day!) and have more freedom to play beyond the confines of customer orders. Some cookiers experiment on their own; others enter challenges (like our current Practice Bakes Perfect rose-piping one); and still others join forces with other sugar artists to create works fitting broad themes or supporting significant causes, such as the Acts of Green UNSA 2016 and Primavera con Arte collaborations that hit the internet in the last couple of weeks.
On this week's hot list*, you'll see cookiers playing in all three of these ways, with results that are truly remarkable. With everything from a rainbow-colored lion (part of the Acts of Green collaboration) to a distressed cookie sign laden with roses (an entry in Practice Bakes Perfect Challenge #16), our Spotlight-ees demonstrate that anything is possible when minds are allowed to wander and creativity is fully unleashed! Enjoy!
