The Great Gingerbread Giveaway from Tunde Dugantsi

Ooh, I love giveaways, and there's nothing better than one that comes close to Christmas time! I'm not sure I could ever part with the contents of this giveaway if I were to win, but they sure would make wonderful Christmas gifts for anyone who loves baking or decorating!

So what am I talking about here? Let me explain . . . First and foremost, this special giveaway comes to you courtesy of Cookie Connection member, author, and cookie decorator extraordinaire Tunde Dugantsi of Tunde's Creations. Thank you, Tunde!

Tunde has generously donated the following three items (combined retail value of $70), which she is happy to ship to a winner anywhere in the world:

1. A copy of her latest book Gingerbread Academy, co-authored with the fabulous AnikÓ VargÁnÉ OrbÁn . . .

Academycover

2. A copy of Tunde's Christmas book, Gingerbread Christmas Wonderland . . .

Xmascover

and, something I was in desperate need of last week when working on my Valentine's cookie videos . . .

3. A 3-D cookie heart-making kit with heart molds, cutter, recipes, and instructions for crafting curvaceous heart-shaped cookie gifts!

P03

Pretty great giveaway, eh? Thanks again to Tunde for approaching me with this spectacular offer!

So, what must you do to enter to win all three goodies? It's simple:

  1. Share this post (using the links at the very bottom of the post) on as many social networks as possible! (Pssst . . . I'll never be able to verify that you did this, but Tunde and I will deeply appreciate you spreading the word.)
  2. In the comments area below, tell me and Tunde a little about the most fabulous gingerbread cookie/creation you ever made - or hope to make. (Note: You must be a Cookie Connection member to comment here. To join, simply go to the home page of this site, click on "Join Community" in the upper left, and follow the prompts.)
  3. Do all of the above no later than December 16, 2014 (5 pm central).

At that time, the giveaway will close, and I'll randomly draw one person from among the commenters to receive all three prizes. Again, this giveaway is open to Cookie Connection members anywhere, so get your gingerbread game on!

Also, please remember: just one entry/comment per person. The number of comments is used to do the random drawing, so when one person comments multiple times, it stacks the cards in that person's favor. Thanks!

Well, I'm not on social medias.  lol  I love Tunde's work!  I think Aniko is on CC..  Not sure.  But if she is the Aniko I see posting here and that I compliment, I love her work too!

Had I known her book is out/published I would have bought it. Gosh darn it!

I'll go to Barnes and Noble...

What a lovely giveaway.  I got into gingerbread a little later in life.....I've only made three, but they were all large.  Each time I thought, what was I thinking!  I make gingerbread houses now in tribute to my Gramma that passed.  I never got around to making one with her and now I make them in her honor.  My third project is the one I'm most proud of...Cindy's Castle.....I had a couple meltdowns in the process of making it and I'm still learning easier ways to do things and such so it's a great learning adventure.

For the last few weeks I have been caring for my mom in her home.  She was just recently diagnosed with a brain tumor that is not treatable and has very little time left - according to Drs..  Your sites have been a little window of joy into my world!  At the moment I can only dream of designing these beautiful works of art and have begun to draw out designs on paper.  It is looking like this may be our last Christmas together and I believe for years to come, I will think of her  and our Christmas together when I'm designing gingerbread art.  Thank you again for such amazing inspiration!

[FROM JULIA: So sorry to hear about your mom. Such a heartfelt sentiment to share with us. May you treasure this holiday together.]

I am yet to make a gingerbread house despite having two books on the subject.  Mostly a matter of time but will get to it one day.  I would love to do a Christmas barn with animals included.  I have the heart molds already but have been wanting the books and have a cookie friend to whom I could give the molds.

I just recently did my very first gingerbread house.. here in Mexico is really hard to find some of the traditional ingredients such as molasses, golden syrup, sometimes even ginger... but after a few years doing "fake" gingerbread houses (sugar cookie dough) this year I made the first batch and I totally loved the consistency of the cookie.. is a strong, sturdy cookie with a really lovely smell.. smells like Christmas with Santa of course.. mine looks like decorated by kids, but I'm still proud of finding and making a suitable recipe

WOW!  I love the tin heart mold and recipe!! I made my first gingerbread house last year with only white royal icing, and hopefully I can make another one this year with coloured royal icing...

My two sisters and I have been making gingerbread cookies for the past 4 years as a way to give to local charities.  Our most difficult cookie was an 8 inch snowflake with color flow and piping.  Made several and they were a huge hit.

We made our first gingerbread houses in this family last year! They were cute, but nothing like some of the ones I've seen posted here. Still, it's the experience of doing something like that as a family that I treasure most--and the unique originality. For example, my daughter's boyfriend made a gingerbread garage complete with a gingerbread car to drive into it. That was pretty cute...

i am in awe, though, of Tunde's work. Such beautiful delicacies!

I love gingerbread warm from the oven with a pat of butter. My Grandmother and Mom made it often growing up. We knew we did something right when we came in from school and the smell of hot gingerbread was waiting. I've made many cookies, I don't know why but last Christmas was the first time I had ever made a gingerbread cookie. They turned out so cute, I'm giving them a go again this year. I would love to win these books, maybe a would try a house!

I, too, became a cookier this past year and love all the great recipes, creativity and deliciousness!  Truth be told, I've never made a gingerbread house...never...  I keep saying "oh next year I'll tackle it" and next year becomes....well...next year....    On another note, I am going to make sure I make it to Cookie Con in 2015!  It's my birthday month so what better way to celebrate than with my fellow cookiers!  I can't wait!!!!

I have always enjoyed making and decorating edible treats. I once made a gingerbread log cabin that won first place and when it was auctioned off it brought 125.00.That was a real thrill! I helped my grandson with his gingerbread entry and he walked away with first place. He was so happy. He and his brother were the only boys to enter. And they beat out all the girls. His brother took second place. This is a lovely gift assortment. If I don't win I just have to purchase that heart kit.

I made a beautiful gingerbread house with my students in a culinary class in high school on 1995.  The chef who taught the class told us to put it in a trash bag and it would keep forever.  I did that and used it year after year, until December 2011 , when I dropped it on the floor while bringing it upstairs!!  I haven't made a new one yet, but I love her creations and would enjoy trying to make hat heart!

Hi and thank you so much for such a great giveaway!! I love decorating sweet treats and here in Mexico gingerbread cookies are not that known, but since last year every Christmas I make gingerbread cookies in different shapes and offer them to my customers as both an ornament and a sweet treat to give as a gift for any special person. This year I have used them myself to decorate a tree and I love how it looks, here a piccy (not the best one though):

But my dream is to make a 3D gingerbread cookie, I´ve never done one and not sure how or where to start trying, so this presents from Tunde´s Creations and Cookie Connection would be a very useful tool to start trying.

Happy Festive season!

I'd love to win these gifts! Tunde's work is absolutely beautiful!  I shared this post on facebook and some emails (for those I know that don't use facebook). Thank you for a chance to win. My favorite gingerbread pieces I have made, are some candle holders. Next, I'd like to work on some 3d pieces I have in mind.

I have to admit I've never attempted a gingerbread house.  They are amazing but I'm overwhelmed at even the thought of the skill level involved and I know that I'm nowhere near artistic enough to create a house that won't cave in or will in no way resemble a house! I LOVE to look at them and Christmas day being my birthday I love all things Christmas! Maybe the girls and I will give it a try this year! Especially if we won one of the books to inspire and show s how!

You are an inspiration and I would love to try my hand at this. I know they will not turn out like yours but oh what a challenge. So many ideas keep popping into my head when I see your works of art. I would be wonderful to win. Thank you and have a wonderful Christmas.

Saludos y Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year 2015.

I've only decorate gingerbread men/women once (that was last year). This year, I'm looking forward to decorating a gingerbread house with my daughter! Thank you both for this great giveaway!!

I bake quite a lot - usually cakes and other treats, but new to decorating cookies (have only done simple ones before).  I am excited about learning more and getting so many great ideas from your sites.  (Thank  you so very much, by the way...)  In the future, I would like to bake and build a gingerbread doll house complete with cookie and candy furnishings, and maybe even a fondant family.  LOL - that will take a LOT of practice for sure, but would be so very cool.

I have never seen a gingerbread house before I came to the states. It was amazing to see all kinds of decorative tools, cutters, molds and fondant... I was so happy to find pre-made  boxed gingerbread house and with alot of excitement made a beautiful gingerbread house. what a joy I had! Now I am back to my country and I go on your website daily ,dreaming one day to make beautiful cookies.Today i went to a tinsmith with a request to make me a cookie cutters and he could not do it. They simply are not sold in my city...none! not even simple round ones,no heart shaped or Christmas tree ones. You are so blessed to have this wonderful tools to create and enjoy this beautiful Christmas season.

I've always been in awe of the people, many of them close friends of mine, who do amazing Gingerbread structures. Not my project, but a memory of my very talented mother who, one year, made an amazing gingerbread house. She put so much time and effort into it that she wouldn't let us eat it!!! She should have... The next year when my father went to get it out of the attic with all the other Christmas decorations, it seems the ants had enjoyed it thoroughly!!! I have made simple structures with my grandkids and love every minute of it. I do let them eat them!!  Love this contest and Tunde's work always puts me in awe.

Oh how I would love to win this! Gingerbread has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. The first gingerbread cookie I made was in the shape of Santa Claus when I was very young. I saw a Santa cookie on the front of my mom's Good Housekeeping magazine and just set about to make my own. I gave them as Christmas gifts to those I loved. As I grew older and moved into my own place I wanted a gingerbread house to put on display in my first apartment. To this point I had only made small cookies and simpler structures but I wanted this one to be special. I designed my own house and melted hard candies for stained glass windows and made lace curtains from piped royal icing. I even put a light in the inside so it would be lit at night. People to this day still remind me how much they loved the stained glass windows! As I began to have my own children it became a tradition to make gingerbread houses with them at Christmas time. For each of my 3 children, I made and gave each of their 35 or so kindergarten classmates a gingerbread house for Christmas.  Some still have them to this day! We still carry on the tradition of making small gingerbread houses each Christmas though my children are grown now! One of my grown sons requested my help in making a gingerbread mansion for a friend's mother recently. The times my children and I have spent together making gingerbread are some of the best memories I have. Just the smell and then the sights of our gingerbread creations will always mean family and live to me.

How lovely is this! I adore making gingerbread creations! Last year I entered my first contest and took first place! It was a small contest but just creating the house brought me great joy! I would love this for inspiration!

Thank you Julia and Tunde for this wonderful opportunity! I was asked to make a Gingerbread house for a local charity early this year and I knew I wanted to make a Thomas Kinkade inspired Gingerbread house. I worked for over 60 hours on this house and had a lot of fun making it.  I am also very humbled and trilled that I won best in show at the event among some great chefs in Metro Detroit Area.  Attached is a picture of the Gingerbread house and I will post the link of the 360 view of the house in the clips section.  Julia I used your Gingerbread Recipe and it turned out GREAT! Thanks and Happy Holidays to you all

But I did decide before reading this that during the Winter Months (May-July here in New Zealand) I would cut more and play/practice. I have always been so intimidated by gingerbread houses and haven't gotten up the nerve to attempt one yet! Sad, I know. I'm still fairly new to cookie decorating and it's one of the things on my "want to learn" list. I would just love to win this. It would propel me into another area of cookie decorating I have yet to explore.

I love decorating gingerbread.  I started just about 5 years ago and each year try to make a unique house/creation.  My most recent is The Leaning Tower of Pisa it won first place in a local contest and was featured as a 10 best cookie of the day here on cookie connection.  So far that is my most fabulous gingerbread creation, I am so happy with it.  I continue to practice and will decorate as long as I'm able.  I know my creations can go as far as my imagination and creativity will allow.  I believe that's endless.  Thanks for all the inspiration I have gotten from the fellow cookiers.  I know you can learn from everyone the beginner to pro. all have talents worth sharing.

I love gingerbread cookies, i did some last year but they were to dark was my first time with I thought mmmm came a little brown and of course I almost broke my teeth lol. Every one laugh well I will try this weekend again. I think that this kit is amazing and I would love the cookie cutter!

Oh WOW! This is fantastic!! I'd love to see those books and love to win the mold!! I've made small house just a few weeks ago. RI red-roof and small enough to put it on my palm. It was my very first time to make 3D house, it was so much fun. I'd like to make same red-roof houses with all the other season's design.

Hello, what a great give away. My very first cookies,  when I don't even knew about RI,  were from a recipe of a very old book that I got when I was a teenager, just last year I picked it up, and adapted the recipe to use on my Christmas Cookies.

Since I saw those 3-D cookie cutters, I knew I wanted to try it but didn't succeed on getting the cutter, so this could be an opportunity.

Thank you so much.

To all of you, Happy Baking and Seasons Greetings!

Marta Torres

This giveaway looks amazing! If I dont win I'll probably end up buying some of these things for myself anyways, definately the 3d cookie mold. I'd love to make a nice gingerbread house with lots of needlepoint lace. I'd also love to make 3d ornaments to give as Christmas gifts.

My first and only gingerbread creation won honorable mention on Cake Central. Not to mention it snowed the day before I took the picture in TEXAS! That is a miracle.  I was hooked instantly like all mediums in food art. lol...there are too many outlets. I'm like a squirrel...isomalt, gingerbread, no wafer. haha I had just marked her book on Amazon yesterday and featured her amazing royal icing snowflake runs. Beautiful stuff!
