My head was spinning with every walk down the runway at last week's Paris Fashion Week. Cutting-edge (crazy?) new fashion has the same gaze-stopping effect on me that incredible cookies do when they hit my social media and Cookie Connection feeds. I just have to stop everything I'm doing and gawk for a bit - LOL!
Given all the hubbub I caught online* about that grand fashion fest, I thought it only appropriate to feature @Lorena Rodríguez's "Paris Couture Cookies" in the cover image this week. Her fondant work is always impeccably "tailored" to her cookies, thanks to her skill and her wonderful mold and cutter sets - yet another great reason to showcase her work. Congrats, Lorena! (*No, I wasn't lucky enough to jet to Paris to witness the live event!)
While Lorena's cookies are the opening act in our cookie "catwalk" through this week's hot list*, every single honored set is "fashion-forward" in its own right - either by virtue of combining cookies in unique ways, speaking to current trends, or extending classic styles in new directions. Before I leave you, just a couple of housekeeping notes . . . FIrst, congrats to those who have already submitted or are about to submit entries to my annual cookie art competition. Getting an entry to the virtual judging table is more than 90% of any competition's challenge, so all entrants should be feeling mighty proud of themselves right about now! If you haven't uploaded your entry yet, please give yourself plenty of time to do so, as internet connections are known to be quirky. And, remember, entries are due by 5 pm central time on Sunday, June 30.
After receiving your entries and getting the judges started, I have a new online course to (hopefully) release, and then I'll be off for 10 days for my longest vacation in eons. (I'll need some serious R&R once I'm past these milestones!) I hope to completely turn off all forms of work while I'm away, so I kindly thank @LisaF in advance for assuming Spotlight-writing duties in my absence. I wish I had had the foresight to know what a godsend she would be, as I would have enlisted her help a whole lot sooner! ❤️
I also wish the Americans here on Cookie Connection a great Fourth of July! I hope to be doing my own celebrating that day, away from computer and phone screens, so I wanted to get these well wishes to everyone before then! 🇺🇸🎆
