Our site algorithms have spoken again! They've factored in all of our visitors' comments, views, and reactions to come up with the trending rankings that determine our weekly Saturday Spotlight roundup! (People often thank me for including them in this feature when they really ought to be thanking the members of this site; all I do is report what the site's calculations tell me to report. That being said, this week I must thank all of you for being responsible for my presence on this week's hot list*! )
It seems that most of us (perhaps myself excluded) are fully immersed in fall, as this week's cookies have all of the autumn classics - pumpkins, sweaters, leaves, and turkeys - well covered. Despite their common themes, these cookies demonstrate a wide range of techniques, from textured icing and molded cookies to airbrushing and handpainting. Don't forget to pick the brains of those spotlighted if you have any questions about what they've done - after all, a primary goal of this site is to help us all learn and grow as cookie artists!
#1: Fall Knocking on My Door by Petra Florean [EDITOR'S NOTE: The colors and textures in this set make it so perfectly autumnal that it earned this week's cover spot, which, BTW, I do handpick. Special congrats, @Petra Florean!]
#2: A Fall Medley by Tina at Sugar Wishes [EDITOR'S NOTE: Tina's handpainting is so lifelike that one might think that candle is actually burning; it's that luminous!]
#3: Thanksgiving Place Cards by Yours Truly, Julia M. Usher
#4: Merry Apples for Teacher & No Icing by Olga Goloven [EDITOR'S NOTE: It's hard to believe there's no icing on these cookies, but, if you're at all familiar with Olga's work, you know she can work wonders with tinted dough!]
#5: "Fall" in Love Bridal Shower Set by Maddy D's Sweets [EDITOR'S NOTE: Extra kudos to @Maddy D's Sweets. These cookies were first posted in 2018 and are, once again, riding high in our algorithms - a real testament to their universal appeal!]
#6: Harry Potter Fans for Icing Smiles by LisaF [EDITOR'S NOTE: Double honors to @LisaF! Her striking fall leaves are also beautifying our site banner and backdrop this month. Learn more about Lisa and her many philanthropic endeavors here.]
#7: 3-D Cookie Container Garden by Julia M. Usher
#8: Autumn Bouquet on Heart by Bożena Aleksandrow [EDITOR'S NOTE: More stunning fall colors and textures!]
#9: Engagement Florals by Daisy Loves Cake [EDITOR'S NOTE: This bride is lucky in both love and cookies! Well done, Daisy!]
#10: Everyone Deserves a Chance to Fly (Wicked) by The Vintage Cookie Jar
Congrats to all of the honorees, and thanks again to everyone who viewed, liked, and commented on my posts and those of these other wonderful cookie artists. I am sure I speak for the others when I say that your support spurs us to carry on and is appreciated more than you may realize. Have a great rest of the weekend, everyone. (I will be out of town working on some large personal projects for the next two weekends, but will do my best to keep the Spotlights coming!)
So that no one has an unfair advantage in making it onto a hot list, the algorithm is secret even to site administrators. Only our platform developers know the code, which has been exhaustively tested by those developers and Cookie Connection staff.
