Seeing as the Fourth of July is just around the corner, it's only logical that we celebrate the top 10 patriotic cookies in this week's Spotlight. But don't be surprised if you see far more than stars and stripes and red, white, and blue on our hot list*. Here on Cookie Connection, where we welcome cookiers from across the globe, our "patriotic" clip set is a catch-all for cookies that pay tribute to countries and cultures everywhere.
So in addition to classic Independence Day sets, be prepared for Canadian maple leaves (Canada celebrates its 150th anniversary this year!), a Japanese maiko (similar to a geisha), and flags and patriotic motifs of all ilks.
Enjoy! And, if you're here in the US, please take a break from the weekend's picnics and other festivities to honor what this holiday is really about: a remembrance of the many freedoms of democracy that our forefathers fought so hard for - treasures we should hold close to our hearts and guard with all of our might.
