Saturday Spotlight: Top 10 Summer Cookies

Considering the thermostat topped 104°F here in St. Louis today, I probably should have entitled this post, "Top 10 (Dog Days of) Summer Cookies"!

Even when it gets this hot outside, I'm not a hang-out-by-the-pool kind of girl, so I'm grateful I got to chill out today in the comfort of my air-conditioned home, looking at all of your very cool cookies. (Or perhaps I should have said "hot" cookies . . . after all, the ten featured cookies below are at the very top of this week's hot list*!)

Each week, I'm impressed with all of the spins people take on the same theme - and this week is no different. For "summer", some created quintessential beach scenes; others depicted icy confections; and still others turned their favorite symbols of summer, like flowers, birds, and mermaids, into icing. But no matter the tack taken, the results all say "summer" in each artist's own distinctive way.

Now, without further ado, it's time we all take a long, cool drink of these summery treats! Enjoy, and congrats to all of this week's honorees!

To heck with that cool drink, I'm suddenly more in the mood for ice cream!

Again, a huge shout-out to all of our Spotlightees, and one final business note . . .
Next Saturday, I'll be on a short vacation in Argentina, followed by a class there the next Saturday, so I will be unable to post another Spotlight until August 12. My apologies for another gap in coverage, but I'll be sure to make up for it when I get back. We've got another chat, a new challenge, and a Cookier Close-up or two, all coming up very soon!

* As a reminder, a word about how the rankings are determined: The rankings are not at all subjective. In fact, they are determined essentially by you, our members, and the activity (number of views, likes, and comments) you've bestowed on each photo. The site uses a top-secret algorithm that weighs these various factors to determine which photos are trending most quickly (i.e., are the "hottest") over specified periods of time. As such, the hot list at the time of this announcement may look a little different a few hours or a day from now as more photos are added to the site.

So that no one has an unfair advantage in making it onto a hot list, the algorithm is secret even to site administrators. Only our platform developers know the code, which has been exhaustively tested by those developers and Cookie Connection staff.

All photos shown here are the courtesy (and copyright) of the designers listed.

To check out our other hot lists, at any time of day, visit our Hot Spot, also found in the site's main navigation line.
