Okay, so it's still Friday, but better early than never, as they say. Okay, maybe no one on this planet has ever used that expression before, but I'm taking the liberty with this Spotlight out of sheer necessity. You see, by this time tomorrow (when I usually draft this post), I'll (hopefully) be soundly asleep at a cruising altitude of 36,000 feet, with visions of fancy Chinese ice creams and Buddhist temples dancing in my head.
Rose-shaped ice creams sold in the hutong (old streets) of the historic, now commercial Nan Luo Gu Xiang area outside of Beijing.
Inside a temple at Yonghe Gong, an imperial mansion built in Beijing in 1694, and then converted to a lamasery around 1744.
Yes, I'm traveling again, and once again to China, where, last time, my enjoyment of their glorious sights and sweets was dampened a touch by the spotty internet connection I had for an entire week. So, that's why I'm not taking any chances tonight.
The hot list* below is as stunning as always, and, not surprisingly, has an ample representation of Practice Bakes Perfect challenge entries, as everyone is scurrying to make next week's entry deadline. (More info here.) Plus, we're on the verge of wedding season, and there's nothing better than hearts, roses, and jewelry to underscore that theme! Enjoy - and keep your fingers crossed for a good internet connection (and more ice cream, noodles, dumplings, pork buns . . .) next week! I'll still be away at the scheduled time of our May 21 Spotlight.

So that no one has an unfair advantage in making it onto a hot list, the algorithm is secret even to site administrators. Only our platform developers know the code, which has been exhaustively tested by those developers and Cookie Connection staff.
