It seems many of you are still celebrating Easter, as seven out of the ten cookies on this week's hot list* center around Easter eggs, bunnies, or religious themes. But hey, no complaints here! I mean what could be more splendid than @Rae Dare-Smith's 3-D Easter bunny cookie in the cover image?! This cutie is even sporting a royal icing necklace made of dimensional flowers à la @Manu biscotti decorati! Wow-za!
As it turns out, Rae is from Australia, and she's contributed another 3-D cookie to a collaboration at the International Cake Show Australia, which is where I'm headed tomorrow (Sunday) to teach. I sure hope to see Rae there so I can congratulate her in person on her cover image and her equally impressive collaboration piece, which you can also catch in Cookie Connection's clip feed. Well done, Rae!
Of course, congratulations as well to our other super skilled honorees! Let's take a look now at their creations that earned them this special Spotlight feature . . .
#1: Bunny Felícia by Cláudia Dmytriw Pichek [EDITOR'S NOTE: Downright delightful! Their smiles make me smile! ~JMU]
#2: Blue-eyed Bunny with Carrot by Elke Hoelzle [EDITOR'S NOTE: A huge shout-out to @Elke Hoelzle for also being our April site artist. You'll see some of her other adorable bunny cookies gracing the banner and backdrop of our site throughout this month! ~JMU]
#3: Happy Easter! by Cookies Fantastique [EDITOR'S NOTE: Such an elegant selection of color palette and embellishments! ~JMU]
#4: 3-D Easter Bunny by Rae Dare-Smith [EDITOR'S NOTE: Congrats again to Rae on having said bunny featured in this week's cover image! It's a very impressive 3-D cookie, which is why it earned this extra distinction! ~JMU]
#5: Suculentas by Montserrat Esquivel [EDITOR'S NOTE: Though sporting a rare non-Easter design, this succulent set is still super noteworthy, rich with texture as it is! ~JMU]
#6: Grace ♥️ by Heather Bruce Sosa [EDITOR'S NOTE: Another showy non-Easter set! Lovely work, @Heather Bruce Sosa! ~JMU]
#7: Japanese Wedding Kimono by coco.icingcookie [EDITOR'S NOTE: One of my personal-fave posts of the week, this set is so wonderfully piped. Great work, @coco.icingcookie! ~JMU]
#8: Happy Easter from Julia! by Julia M. Usher [EDITOR'S NOTE: Hey, that's me! But, remember, I just call the honorees as the site sees them. Those featured in these weekly Spotlights are automatically determined by the site's trending algorithms*, not by me or Spotlight contributor @LisaF. ~ JMU]
#9: A Perfect Blend Bridal Tea by MegMeACake [EDITOR'S NOTE: Another beautiful non-Easter set! Tea and weddings are indeed the perfect blend! ~JMU]
#10: Tulip Cookies by Kimberlie [EDITOR'S NOTE: A simply stunning collection, perfect for Easter, Mother's Day, weddings, and other occasions! So nicely done, @Kimberlie! ~JMU]
And that's a wrap! I'm going to scurry off now to get this post on social media so I can finish packing for Australia. Fitting the many cookies and tools required for three hands-on classes into three suitcases (and keeping each bag under 50 pounds!) is a mentally challenging (euphemism for exhausting) exercise not dissimilar to putting together a 10,000+-piece jigsaw puzzle! I've got my work cut out for me, especially considering take-off time is in under 24 hours (and I injured my back yesterday, so I'm working at about half-speed 😂)! I'll be back online on Tuesday with updates from the show, so keep your eyes on my social media pages if you're interested in catching some of my antics while Down Under! An advance thank-you to @LisaF who will be writing the April 13 Spotlight while I am teaching and also the one on the following weekend when I'll be en route to California!
Have a great week, everyone, and congrats again to this week's honorees!
So that no one has an unfair advantage in making it onto a hot list, the algorithm is secret even to site administrators. Only our platform developers know the code, which has been exhaustively tested by those developers and Cookie Connection staff.
